Publisher's Summary

The highly anticipated memoir from Gucci Mane, "one of hip-hop's most prolific and admired artists" (New York Times).

For the first time, Gucci Mane tells his story in his own words. It is the captivating life of an artist who forged an unlikely path to stardom and personal rebirth. Gucci Mane began writing his memoir in a maximum-security federal prison. Released in 2016, he emerged radically transformed. He was sober, smiling, focused, and positive - a far cry from the Gucci Mane of years past.

Born in rural Bessemer, Alabama, Radric Delantic Davis became Gucci Mane in East Atlanta, where the rap scene is as vibrant as the dope game. His name was made as a drug dealer first, rapper second. His influential mixtapes and street anthems pioneered the sound of rap music. He inspired and mentored a new generation of artists and producers: Migos, Young Thug, Nicki Minaj, Zaytoven, Mike Will Made-It, Metro Boomin.

Loved it

I was never a fan of gucci... Never understood him... Never really cared. But after reading this book, it gave me an insight on who and what to he is behind the cameras. I'm not a fan of his music but I'm definitely a fan of the man.

Great solidification for the return of Gucci Mane

The story was well organized and flowed effortlessly. The reader was very good, but I could tell some street phrases fell flat to him at times. It only took away but a fraction of the story and immersion. Glad Gucci is back.

Interesting

A story with not too much depth given it’s playback time.

Radric Davis still has a lot more to live and do in life so the content in this book is just beginning the story.

A Humbling Story

What did you love best about The Autobiography of Gucci Mane?

I Love How This Book Gets On What The Media Has Put Out For Example There's A Video On Youtube Where It Shows Gucci Speak To The Press After His Release From Prison You Actually Hear What Was Going Threw His Mind In this Situation Plus There's More Situations The Media Do Not Know About Or Havent Spoken About That Makes This Book As Good As A Stephen King Novel

Who was your favorite character and why?

prologue
I like how it shows us the point of view of the trap god

What about Guy Lockard’s performance did you like?

His Voice And Emphasis On Words

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Trap Gods And Company

Any additional comments?

Lacking juice

This book lacked the depth of juice one would expect in a Gucci Mane autobiography. He gently grazes the deep, life changing topics and focuses more on musical relationships. I️ wanted to hear more about the hard times- feelings, emotions and things that drove him to do the things he did. Rather, I️ believe he wrote this book as a closure to his past, but really his past should be telling his present.

Surprisingly Good

I'm a fan of Gucci Mane, and a lot of the stories I knew from the music. This made me even more of a fan because there are no inconsistencies from his raps to the book. Great listen

It's GUWOP... Gucci Mane LaFlare!!!

Love this book, story, and narration! Definitely recommend it. Gucci has had an interesting life. The evolution of Gucci is a glimpse of what it is like growing up as a young black youth in the deep South and the challenges you encounter living in the Hood. Peace!

Gucci should have narrated this

A very interesting memoir but the narrator did not sound southern at all and overdid it with the exclamations.. this detracted a bit from the experience.. it felt lacking in emotion.
Besides his film role, all I knew about Gucci Mane was the car incident and his face tattoo so it was fascinating to hear about his experiences and his place in Hip Hop.

Inspiring

Loved the story thoughout. It's a slow start which goes back to Gucci's childhood but the book never fails to keep you engaged. There are a lot of learnings to take from this book, and it has guided me through my tough time by helping me put things into perspective. Definitely listening to this all over again right now.
