One green notebook. Six strangers. The chance to start being honest....

Six strangers with one universal thing in common: their lives aren’t always what they make them out to be.

But what would happen if they told the truth instead?

Julian begins The Authenticity Project - a small green notebook containing his ‘truth’ - to pass on and encourage others to share their own.

Little does he know that this small act of honesty will impact all those who come into contact with the book and lead to a life-changing world of friendship and forgiveness....

Heart warming

Loved every minute of this book! The narrator was excellent. I feel like this book could be the next Love Actually type of movie.

Unique and fantastic

This book was one which I enjoyed tremendously as it consisted of 6 vignettes beautifully written and consisting of diverse characters which you get to know and love. I read this in one sitting as I was taken along on the journey of this group. Wonderfully written and beautifully narrated, with a fabulous twist I wasn’t expecting.

Unconvincing

Based on a potentially good idea, I enjoyed the first chapters of the Authenticity Project but it gradually degenerated into shallow, predictable and unconvincing.
The narrator was good at switching accents but often got the emphasis in a sentence wrong as if she didn’t quite understand the meaning.
I don’t often return books, but I gave up on this one about 3 hours from the end and have sent it back.

Sweet

Nice easy and positive listen but it’s slightly predictable and one of the twists is unrealistic.

Fascinating

The Authenticity Project is the name of a book within a novel. It’s an amazing story that touches on several lives that have been damaged in some way. I chose it because i saw a recommendation by someone. I can’t remember who, but I am so glad I decided to read it and I thank whoever it was for pointing me in this direction. It pulls on all the emotions, in turn happy and sad, while creating creating humour too. I didn’t want the story to end and will certainly be looking for more from this talented author.

Different & Delightful! pp

This book putsme in mind of Ruth Hogan, an author i admire & consistently enjoy. This modern novel features a cast of characters whose individul stories are skilfully crafted into the main story. Based on an exercise bookin which each contributor is encoursged to be honest, the author manages to surprise and delight. i throughly enjoyed this book.

Absolutely loved this book!

I am so sad to have just finished this book as I was totally caught up in the lives of the very believable characters.
The Authenticity Project is a brilliant concept and maybe we should all write our true feelings down in a notebook and see what happens.
Very well written and observed.

Enjoyable story spoilt by awful accent

This was an interesting idea for a story and the idea that no-one is really as they seem was a good one. The flawed characters were kept moderately real and many issues faced by the average person were addressed that is all except for the character Alice who gave fleeting acknowledgement of her coping mechanism for the stresses of new motherhood. It was disappointing that it was glossed over a bit while the issues of other characters were given a large amount of attention. What drove me crazy was the TERRIBLE Australian accent.. It became so incredibly irritating and when koala "bears" were referred to I almost gave up. The author and narrator really needed to get the Australian character so much more believable. He sounded so unlike any Aussie Ive ever heard (and I live in Australia) and his stereotypical characterisation was pretty awful. I listened to the book while driving and walking and the whole time I fluctuated between enjoying a pleasant story to being completely exasperated by the narration.

Lovely Story

Really loved this book. 2 downsides though was the Aussie accent by the narrator (made me cringe every time) and the constant use of the word ‘obviously’ by the author.
But overall a really lovely book. Light and refreshing

Fabulous read

I loved every moment of this warm, caring, funny and so very human book. I’m an Aussie myself and found Riley’s accent very very bad and the simplistic portrayal of an Aussie character, but the story was so lovely I just put up with it. Highly recommend this to anyone. I won’t forget it in a hurry.

Enjoyable

Overall, I enjoyed the story and liked most of the characters. It was one of those stories where you feared a too-neat "happy ever after ending", but fortunately the author managed to avoid this to a degree.
I know how difficult it is for the narrator, especially when there are male and female parts and different accents and dialects involved. However, I have to say that this was the worst Australian accent ever!

Absolutely wonderful!

Loved this so much! If you are an Aussie my advice is to view the accent as an amusing example of how we sound to others 🤣 Wonderful story that was just a joy to listen to, I hope there is a sequel one day ❤️

Could handle the accent

I really wanted to enjoy this book & I tried to push through, but the Aussie accent (as others have said) is appalling. I couldn’t keep listening to the book & returned it.

Lousy accents

Please narrators, if you don’t speak the way naturally, forget it. An “Australian” with confusing New Zealand speech. Boring indeed.
The book had so much potential with the idea of sharing loneliness details etc, but turned into quick fixes and quick sex. Lazy writing.
