Publisher's summary

A jock tutor and a determined sorority girl in this fun and sexy college sports romance.

Blair

What's the probability of insulting the one guy on campus I need to help me pass statistics? If I knew, I wouldn't be standing in front of Wes Reynolds begging him to tutor me.

Basketball player, sexy, arrogant, always sleeping through class...these are the things I knew about him. What I didn't know is that he is a seriously smart jock.

Wes

What's the best way to get rid of the peppy and unrelenting girl that keeps asking me to tutor her? If I knew, I wouldn't be staring at her tan legs and attempting to teach her statistics.

Sorority girl who's fine as hell, determined, and a ball buster...these are the things I knew about her. What I didn't know is that she is all the things I didn't realize I wanted or needed.

Or that one semester with her would change everything.

Nerdy Jocks!

I really love that this was a college sports romance instead of a YA or major/minor league. As a recent college graduate, I wholly understood Blair's desperation to do well in statistics. I love how the relationship between Blair and Wes started and continued to develop even though Wes resisted at first. I also enjoyed that the author gave us insight between Wes and the basketball team. This was such a fun, easy, and well written listen.

These two narrators give great performances independently and are a great combination on pieces they've collaborated on. In this audio, they bring us another fabulous performance that makes us that more connected to our characters.

I definitely need a tutor!

The Asssist is a fun New Adult romance. Enroll at Valley and enjoy the eye candy or in this case aural pleasure. With a healthy dose of humility this feisty sorority girl manages to snag herself the ultimate prize...a tutor for statistics. What did you think I meant!?! LOL.

These smart jocks will have you curling your toes and bouncing in your seats. No pompoms necessary but Joel probably wouldn't mind them! Grab a stretch of the bleachers and invite your friends. You aren't going to want to miss these!

I can't wait for book 2!

A good one

First time I have read a book by this author but it won’t be my last. Her writing style kept my interest and I really enjoyed it. The interaction between the characters kept the momentum and did not disappoint. Girl meets athlete and while its typical it has a twist that is different and unique. Really enjoyed this one. Added bonus is the audible version. Such good narration adds so much to the story. Buying both the book and the audible is actually less expensive than just buying the audible. I enjoyed listening while working around the house and then resting and enjoying the read. Thanks Amazon!

An highly enjoyable and fun twist on sports NA romance

I came into this without any expectation because I have not read anything by the author and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. It helped that I love the narrators. You honestly can’t go wrong with Erin and Jason. I love that the secondary characters are pretty well flashed out and they are not all the typical jocks. I can’t wait for book two!

The Assist

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book. I usually don't go for sports romances, and Rebecca Jenshak is a new to me author but I'm so glad that I had the chance to read/listen. the set up isn't quite what you expect, it's not the big alpha cocky jock seeking the nerdy girl tutor that isn't really pretty and not worth his time so he looks past her. Instead the jock is the tutor and she is after him for help. I loved the dynamic between Wes & Blair and the build up in their relationship. The characters are a bit awkward, and really funny.

The audio by Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke was very well done. Erin is an old favorite and doesn't disappoint. Jason is a new favorite and it is an absolute pleasure to listen to his narration. The two make a great duet for this book.

The Story is good with a few twists I haven’t read in other sports books. I like the characters.

Narration is amazing both Erin Mallon and Jason Clark are some of my favorites. They are great at changing there voices just enough to see the voices of the characters come through.

Love this sports romance

Audio Re-Read

I have to admit I loved this even more on audio- the performances were top notch, the emotional really came through, a

Blair and Wes started my Jenshak obsession, and I loved revisiting them. College, new adult, loads of college shenanigans and sports moments, but the characters are still mature, responsible, thoughtful, and most importantly-emotionally intelligent. This book is full of tropes I love in addition to college/sports- a sort of friends to lovers vibes, a great girl gang and team dynamic, a tutoring situation, and I loved how the token sorority girl/college athlete archetypes are NOT who these characters are- smart jocks, after all.

The chemistry is cute, the steam a moderate burn that's also really sweet, and I loved how these two had all these assumptions about each other and when they become closer they realize how wrong they were. (almost like a P and P type vibe). RJ gives us great banter, characters with depth and complexity, amazing friendships and some laughs, and a bit of drama/angst but nothing that hits TOO hard or lasts too long. I also loved how both of these characters are ambitious and thoughtful and caring- about their own aspirations, about each others', about their friends. They help each other be brave enough to pursue their dreams, or, in some cases, re thinking them when things dont quite go to plan.

Loads of fun, charming, and a fast-paced and super consumable read. And the audio was perfectly narrated- both characters exactly nailed the tone and tenor of the personalities and brought lots of layers.

Sweet new adult romance

Audiobook Review

Story: 4
Narration: 5
Overall: 4

I don't read a lot of new adult books, but this book was a lot of fun! I really liked Blaire and Wes's backstory as well as their story once they crossed paths with one another. The fact that the JOCK was the smart one was a really fun twist.

I loved how Blaire had to work so hard for her grades, but Wes was intuitively smart because he was applying his knowledge to the "real world" or in a way that would make sense to him. Watching Blaire peg him as the dumb jock was just so much fun! I also loved the vulnerabilities displayed by Blaire. She has a lot of determination and is so sweet, but some choice decisions in her past won't stop haunting her. I enjoyed the pacing of the book and how Blaire and Wes start off as classmates, who turn into friends who eventually turn into something more.

One of my favorite parts of this book was how both Blaire and Wes had really strong relationships with their friends. This core group of friends was a prominent fixture in both of their lives. It's who they fall back on when life gets hard, and not necessarily with boy or girl trouble with everyday stuff too. Sometimes this "real life" aspect that is shared in books is a breath of fresh air and Rebecca Jenshak does a great job of incorporating that in this book.

I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook version of this book. Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke were such good choices for Blaire and Wes. This was the first time I listened to Erin Mallon narrating a book and I had no difficulty deciphering which character she was voicing during Blaire's scenes. I loved her voice and could immediately tell when she wanted Blaire to be happy and excited or upset and sad. Jason Clarke is simply amazing. He's quickly becoming one of my favorite male narrators because his range is so huge! I love the different accents and ways that he voices different characters. Overall I think that these two did such a wonderful job and I won't ever hesitate to pick up an audiobook narrated by either one of them. This was a wonderful book with great audio narration!

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
