Publisher's summary

"To win without fighting is best," Sun Tzu said. For the Chinese philosopher/general war was synchronic with life. Tzu viewed the world as a network of combat zones where the stakes were high and struggle was the primary mode of being, where no one was to be trusted, and survival depended on nothing less than unconditional victory. Actors Ron Silver and B.D. Wong narrate this 2,500-year-old work of wisdom that continues to guide and inspire people of all cultures, teaching the principles of strategy required in everything from sports, to business, to affairs of the heart. Augmented by commentary and anecdotes, this audio edition maintains the pure, near-poetic tone of the original.

With commentary

This is the book with chapter by chapter commentary. It’s one of my favorites and I was excited to see it on Audible.

Good book with an audio flaw

The Art of War is a well-scripted, engaging audiobook. It has a good, terse style with colorful anecdotes and observations from past and contemporary tacticians. The only problem is one chapter--I think it's the eighth chapter--repeats itself halfway through. It's kind of annoying, but beyond that, I'd highly recommend this book.

didnt care for this

Thought this might have some philosophy or insight that could be applied to business or modern day living. I didnt get anything out of this book. It stresses that a person should practice deception and deceit in order to achieve advantages over others. For ancient war ok but the wisdom didn't sit well with me to adapt as a style of living. I'd rather be taken advantage of than sacrifice my integrity. However, tips on positioning your chariots on high ground with the sun at your back might come in use when you play paintball.

Great book, bad rendition

I can't fault the book, I actually liked its content. However, I do mind the fact that the producers of the audio title found it necessary to include musical transition, especially since this title is already abridged.
I highly recommend you find another publisher for this work, because what I listened to can only be improved upon.

The Art of War

I have read "The Art of War" several times and thought it would be nice to have a copy that I could listen to when driving. I was discouraged when the reader could not pronounce the author's name correctly. I was also surprised at the poor quality of the recording itself. Take the time and read the book, it will serve you much better.
