He says that's his best offer. Is it? She says she agrees. Does she? The interview went great - or did it? He said he'd never do it again. But he did.
Reading people is inherently grained into us. We do it in an instant without ever thinking about it. This is why you may feel at ease when you glance at one person, but the sight of another person that you pass on the street may immediately cause you to feel threatened or defensive. This is your intuition directly influencing you, entirely unconsciously. The art of reading people is so inherent to us, so instinctive, that we do not usually learn the skills consciously - we simply develop them over time. In fact, babies start to develop an understanding of expressions and emotions as their vision clears up starting around the age of four months old. They can tell when the expression on someone else’s face is happy, and they respond in kind. Conversely, when someone stares at them angrily, they get scared.
Of course, learning to read others can be honed past a skill necessary for basic interaction into art, allowing you to understand so much more about the person that you are hoping to read in the first place. If you want to learn to read someone else, you will be able to tell exactly what that feeling of unease in your gut is telling you - you will be able to see when the other person is angry or sad or threatening, or you will be able to identify truer intentions or even whether someone is lying, all because you learn how to read their body language.
As you listen to this audiobook, you will begin to develop those skills. You will get some of the psychological fundamentals behind learning to read people with ease, understanding the purpose of doing so, and the driving instruments behind your ability to do so. You will learn how to interpret several different examples of body language with ease, as well as how to analyze what someone else is doing.
You will then start learning about ways that you can implement these skills, allowing you to take these skills of reading people above and beyond. You will learn about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and how it can be useful in reading others. You will learn about emotional intelligence and how it can teach you to not only regulate yourself but also influence your control of other people. You will learn about manipulation and how you can reverse it, defend yourself, and even neutralize the manipulation altogether using the techniques in emotional intelligence and CBT and how they relate to reading people in the first place.
