The Andromeda Strain is a 1971 American science fiction film directed by legendary filmmaker Robert Wise and based on Michael Crichton's debut novel of the same name. An underrated sci-fi classic, the film paved the way for other viral disaster movies like Outbreak and Contagion and was a major influence on directors Quentin Tarantino and Steven Spielberg.
