I read through all the greats. Confucius really blew my mind. The concept that man is inherently good if allowed to be or structured to be is fascinating. Can good government exist?

Thought provoking
Too many references to random people. To understand this collection of teaching requires serious studying of the historical context.
There were many wise sayings and solid moral reasoning in this book but it is not a light read.
To fully understand the Analects serious study is needed to know the context.

How this childish slave Manuel has survived for so long and continues to be applied goes to show the immense mass minded slave like conformity of the orient. Don’t think for yourself, don’t resist, don’t be creative, uphold propriety, live for mindless ritualized action, only value what’s selfless, you need not thrive, give up on pride, boldness, and all great strivings, only self renunciation, self denial, world denial, hatred of actual life will do.
