Publisher's summary

Jason Owens has just finished his law degree. Thanks to his father's stellar work in the industry, he was able to secure work immediately as a legal assistant, learning the ropes of a company where his father had originally gotten his start. It's monotonous work until someone comes in complaining of a theft of a ring. To keep the client happy, Jason is asked to carry all the firm's documents on this client's case in a briefcase. At least it’s money.

Ruth Yoder is a newly baptized Amish woman. She has always wanted to get married, but her experience so far has been lackluster. She feels like she doesn't exactly know what she wants. The Englischer town wasn't it. But something about coming home and seeing her oldest brother married didn't help, either.

When Jason's car breaks down while on his way home to visit his parents, he ends up staying with Jacob Yoder – Ruth's eldest brother. Things quickly start to change as he spends more time with Ruth.

Ruth is intrigued by this newcomer. He has a spark of passion that she hasn't seen in the Amish community she grew up in before, and he's honest about it. What worries her is his passion for his job. It appears as though that's all he wants to do.
Will Ruth and Jason find a way to reconcile their differences in the short time he's there, or will the law get in the way?
