Great Conversation Starter and Reference Document

This book articulates the author's understanding of the foundational elements of the formation and framing of the United States that have shaped the psyche of its Black and White citizens. It is a handy reference for some of America’s foundational documents. The book's structure can be used as a framework for conversation and a prompt for deeper study. It simultaneously includes references to laws, institutions and some prominent individuals while highlighting the often-overlooked or hidden underbelly of their motivations and origins.

The significance of race issues in America

As a reader of the hard copy the writer connected well with all readers. The author captured major historical events in USA and how society processed race issues. I really enjoyed both the hard copy and digital highlighting “late starts for blacks “ and disparities in America.

The “Victors” do not get to tell the Story, truth does!!

The author has put in extensive research necessary to realistically assist the reader in “unlearning” what the majority of American citizens learned in our elementary, middle, and high school educational classrooms pertaining to our governmental systems, social structures, subconscious duplicity, and willful ignorance. We’ve been duped!

SJ Claybon, with a lot of engaging talking points of historical facts, input from experts and their studies and vocational expertise, as well as Claybon’s lived experiences bring authenticity to the read. This book offers compelling opportunities for thoughtful conversations to be had amongst our friends, colleagues, and family members. This book can be used as a small group study. Mindful change for the betterment of the whole could be had simply through new awareness of what historically ‘was’ and in many cases still ‘is’ as written in this book.

Do you want to answer the proverbial “why” questions about our American systems, our American psyche?? Read this book. It’s time for a healthy shift—an evolutional renovation!

This book not only touches on the why and how the psyche of Black Americans was warped but just how damning and long standing the effects are in presently.

How S.J. Claybon connects historical strategies and events used to mold the images and beliefs of Black people that are alive in present day mindsets, behaviors and views is eye opening. It is clear the author intends to educate everyone, not just Blacks and Whites of the damage done to the perception of Black Americans via repeated and systematic false truths and brainwashing but more importantly to encourage Black Americans to
consciously move into a true awareness of self and away from the one inflicted on us.
