Acerca de esta escucha

“Sarah Penner transported me to the sea-swept cliffs of Positano and introduced me to characters I’ll never forget. A magical read!”—Emilia Hart, New York Times bestselling author of Weyward

Powerful witchcraft. A hunt for sunken treasure. Forbidden love on the high seas. Beware the Amalfi Curse…

Haven Ambrose, a trailblazing nautical archaeologist, has come to the sun-soaked village of Positano to investigate the mysterious shipwrecks along the Amalfi Coast. But Haven is hoping to find more than old artifacts beneath the azure waters; she is secretly on a quest to locate a trove of priceless gemstones her late father spotted on his final dive. Upon Haven’s arrival, strange maelstroms and misfortunes start plaguing the town. Is it nature or something more sinister at work?

As Haven searches for her father’s sunken treasure, she begins to unearth a centuries-old tale of ancient sorcery and one woman’s quest to save her lover and her village by using the legendary art of stregheria, a magical ability to harness the ocean. Could this magic be behind Positano’s latest calamities? Haven must unravel the Amalfi Curse before the region is destroyed forever…

Against the dazzling backdrop of the Amalfi Coast, this bewitching novel shimmers with mystery, romance and the untamed magic of the sea.

✨My Review:
I really wanted to love this one more but for whatever reason, I couldn’t connect or relate to the characters. What I loved is the setting being over in Italy and the story about being about a nautical archaeologist who is exploring sunken boats that have shipwrecked off the Positano Amalfi Coast. This story goes back and forth between present day with Haven and back in time to the 1800’s. I would still recommend this to anyone who has it on their TBR list. It’s worth a read.

I devoured this once it was released. I fell in the with The Lost Apothecary & The Amalfi Curse was just as encapsulating. Is there another book coming from another characters POV!?

The characters

Enjoyable listen about strong women living in the present day and the 1800's. Divers looking for treasures from sunken ships off the Amalfi coast. Good narration.

two timelines and a little witchiness

The story overall isn’t bad, it’s an easy read.
The book starts off great, but about half way through some of the storylines start to drag, or fall apart. The modern day love story felt awkward as the author tried to connect it to the past. The mystery and excitement of it just slowly faded away, and I stopped caring about the characters.

Set in Positano, Italy, this dual-timeline story from 1821 and the modern day combines mystery, romance, and Italian folklore. It features forbidden love, pirates, buried treasure, and family secrets. A group of women practices “stregheria,” ancient witchcraft, to manipulate the ocean and break a curse. Both timelines are emotionally rich and mysterious, with the modern plot revealing truths hidden beneath the sea and the past. Fans of magical, atmospheric stories will enjoy this book. The narrators did a fantastic job!

I really enjoyed this book. The folklore and history of it. I felt like I was in Italy with the wonderful descriptions of the area.

I liked the storyline. I learned a lot about the Amalfi Coast and treasure hunting. I also enjoy the historical storylines going on at once.

Great story! Something different and interesting

The Amalfi Curse blends historical intrigue with myth and mystery, but didn’t fully deliver for me. I was drawn to the Positano setting—having been there, I hoped to be transported. While the cliffs and dark waters are mentioned, the sensory magic of the Amalfi Coast felt underdeveloped. I never quite felt immersed.

The 1800s storyline was the stronger of the two, with a gothic tone that held my attention. The present-day plot, centered on Haven, fell flat—I couldn’t connect with her, and her choices often frustrated me.

The curse element, rooted in cultural superstition, worked well and added tension. The pacing was solid, and the audiobook narration helped bring both timelines to life. But overall, this was a mixed read—ambitious in scope, but emotionally uneven.
