Acerca de esta escucha
Forty-five-year-old Walter Baker, recently divorced and downsized out of his airline-pilot job, has elected to enter the wilderness, physically and metaphorically, to review and reinvent his life. The wilderness he finds is far less idyllic than he had hoped. Even before he can move into an isolated cabin near Klamath Falls, Oregon, he meets an attractive widow with a troubled past and a mental-health counselor disguised as a fishing guide, both of whom immediately insinuate themselves into his life. Next he learns that his landlord neighbors are hiding out in the US Federal Witness Security Program and that a new group of Muslims has taken up residence at a nearby ranch that had been a jihad training center in 1999. This diverse cast, plus a contingent from the Jefferson State Militia, eventually converges in Walter's front yard, where he is thrust into the role of peacemaker. The outcome is a surprise for all parties concerned. Scattered throughout the story are educational interludes in which Walter encounters a fiery fundamentalist preacher, a congenial Sufi, an aggressive nymphomaniac, a psychic duck, and various other local characters as he investigates interests such as fly fishing, Islam, New Thought, midlife transitions, nonviolence, vipassana meditation, and the local history of Klamath County, Oregon.

Historia
This is an audiobook of short stories of everyday human emotional experiences. Stories of profound loss, of great friendships, of growing old with a dog, of going to war, and of course, stories of deep romantic love. I hope the stories encourage the listener to do some introspection on what it means to be human. I believe the poems, like all art, will mean more to some than to others.

Historia
Alan Gregory is a clinical psychologist with a thriving practice in Boulder, Colorado. His life begins to unravel when one of his female patients is found in an apparent suicide and the local paper begins printing accusations from an unnamed source of sexual impropriety between the woman and Dr. Gregory. He launches a psychological and personal quest for the truth that rapidly intensifies when more of his patients die untimely deaths, and Gregory suspects not only that the deaths are related but that another one of his patients may be somehow involved. Lacking facts but roused by suspicion and troubled by seemingly random acts of terror around him, Gregory starts to fear for the safety of the people he loves. The question of the inviolability of confidential disclosures made to Gregory by his patients - privileged information - becomes crucial as the psychologist pursues an unsettling romance with Lauren Crowder, a lovely deputy district attorney investigating one of the deaths. Bound to silence, Gregory follows the psychological tracks of someone he fears may be a cunning and disturbed killer, while turning to his enigmatic but supportive partner, Diane Estevez, for counsel, and to his tart-tongued female urologist neighbor for support. The sinister, surprising drama unfolds against Boulder's Rocky Mountain backdrop, in the arresting natural beauty of Aspen, and in the midst of a baroque Halloween costume party in downtown Boulder. Finally, in a lonely mountain lodge enshrouded in menace, the story comes to its breathtaking climax.

David Cobb is not a typical lawyer--he's more interested in dispensing God's wisdom than pertinent legal advice. High-stakes litigation is way outside his comfort zone. For many years, Zeke Caldwell has been concocting home remedies made from natural ingredients found in the coastal marshes near Wilmington, North Carolina. One of his remedies proved so effective that he patented it with the help of David's father. Now he suspects a big drug company has stolen his formula. What he doesn't know is that the theft has deeper, more evil roots.
