Whether a person has Alzheimer disease or another form of dementia, he or she will face a host of problems. The 36-Hour Day will help family members and caregivers address these challenges and simultaneously cope with their own emotions and needs.

Featuring useful takeaway messages and informed by recent research into the causes of and the search for therapies to prevent or cure dementia, this edition includes new information on:

  • Devices to make life simpler and safer for people who have dementia
  • Strategies for delaying behavioral and neuropsychiatric symptoms
  • Changes in Medicare and other health care insurance laws
  • Palliative care, hospice care, durable power of attorney, and guardianship
  • Dementia due to traumatic brain injury
  • Choosing a residential care facility

Absolute, best dementia, caregiver resource!

I have found this book to be invaluable and understanding, and the care and research of my parents have both suffered. Dementia… I keep extra copies in my car to share with people I meet in similar situation.

So much useful information!

My therapist recommended this book to me as a caregiver for my mother-in-law who we highly suspect has dementia. It has answered so many questions and has made me feel so much less alone. I’m only about halfway through the book, but I had to say how much this book has helped me so far.

Very informative

Thank you for writing this book. Anyone who has a loved one or a good friend with Alzheimer’s/dementia should read this book. some of the areas I did skip because it did not pertain to me but overall, I thought this was a good book. My doctor had recommended this to me Because I take care of my brother, it has been sad and stressful.

Awesome Book

I would recommend skipping the first chapter. It's like a fast forward from the beginning of the disease to the very end. It's quite overwhelming and frightening. It put me in a panic mode. In reality, AD (or probably any type of dementia) doesn't progress that rapidly.
