Why do some people achieve great personal success, yet never succeed in building a business or making an impact in their organization? John C. Maxwell knows the answer. According to Maxwell, the greatest leadership principle that he has ever learned in over 35 years of leadership is that those closest to the leader will determine the success level of that leader. It’s not enough for a leader to have vision, energy, drive, and conviction. If you want to see your dream come to fruition, you must learn how to develop the leaders around you.

It is, as authors Jocko Willink and Leif Babin explained in their best-selling first audiobook, Extreme Ownership, “Simple, Not Easy”.

They worry that it's too big for them to achieve. That they have to have an amazing idea, be a certain age, have a lot of money, or be powerful or famous to make a real difference. The good news is that none of those things is necessary for you to achieve significance and create a lasting legacy.

Interesting, not actionable
Maybe I being too harsh, but the book reads much more like a series of successes and failures throughout history. Biggest impact is just thinking of yourself as a leader.
I’m glad I read it once, doubt I’ll read again.

Outdated, but still had some gems.
First, I applaud you for looking into leadship audiobooks! I appreciate you for wanting to improve yourself so that you may improve others.
I struggled with a few sections of this book. While there were great organizational and inspirational tips in the material, some areas read like a "Prosperity Gospel" sermon while others sounded self-promotional. Also, it was noticeable in some areas that it was written by someone raised in an older generation and by someone who might be out of touch with today's workplace. I would still give it a listen because you can still help hone (or even generate new) skills. But, just like with any book, be cautious and use discernment while reading and/or listening.

A staple for any leadership basis
Intro from the author was great, you can tell he has had a life of public speaking.
The narrator; not so much.
But don’t let that out you off. Consuming the ideas on this book was great for me, the stories and history that makes up the preface to the laws was equally great and helped me identify the point that is being made.
Great listen, albeit, the narrator is a little less charasmatic than the author
