Publisher's Summary

Lane Daniels loves his job; working as a foreman on the south Texas ranch gives him the type of satisfaction he's always craved, but the owner of Crazy Hills ranch, Gresh Hamilton Miller the third, has woven his way under Lane's skin, leaving Lane crazy for the man's touch. But doing the boss is out of the question. Gresh wants more from Lane than his ability to handle livestock, he wants it all. Lane won't give him the time of day so he forces the issue, setting up a date that Lane believes to be a business meeting. Alone together, Lane and Gresh ignite in a flash of passion. Just when it feels like there could be something more between them, the new doctor in town, Riley, sets his sights on Lane. Riley chases hard after him, insinuating himself in Lane's life, highlighting Gresh's faults. But Gresh won't give up without a fight. Will Lane and Gresh be able to survive the intrusion, or will Riley be the one walking away with Lane's heart? Texas Rough is the first book in Sara York's Texas Soul series. Get ready to get your cowboy on and go for a rough ride.

sad but hopeful

A great story with some complications and competition for affections. I found Riley overbearing and interfering. He was like a vulture ready to pounce on Lane his prey. Rey was such an opportunist, and it ticked me off big time. Gresh should have been mire open with Lane and his dad sooner. smh! Mad crazy twist at the end. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job with voices and expressions bringing it to life.

Emotional

This is the first story I’ve read/listened to by this author. WOW it sure is causing me to look into what else she has written. The heat between Lane and Gresh is really addictive. The romance is heartbreaking to watch develop but thankfully it ends heartwarming. The characters are well described and the story flowed at a fast pace. I feel there are a lot of story lines that are setting up for the rest of the series. There is plenty of emotion. The only part I felt should have been more about is Gresh’s dad’s opinion. Since he was so set on his son’s future and trying to set him up I feel there just should have been more of how he dealt with this surprise that his son is gay. I think the narrator Kale Williams did a great job. It made the story realistic and enjoyable. I was given a free copy and it gave me a chance to try a new author to me. I will be checking out the rest of this series.

Narration REALLY helped kick the story up a notch!

It took me a while to get into the story, even with Whispersync (ebook available through Kindle Unlimited). It was hard for me to get where each were coming from, especially Gresh. I skipped ahead and and circled back once the couple grew on me, although they seemed to fall madly in love overnight. Similarly, Riley's insta-love for Lane and the drama came out of nowhere, so at times, the plot was very contrived ... but nevertheless, I did feel the love and passion for these two men.

I attribute my being won over to Kale Williams' narration. He infused the right touch of emotion and passion to the characters and live/romantic scenes to melt my critical heart. It's a tough line to balance between keeping it real/natural vs overacting/overwrought - but Kale pulled it off and l was a pile of mush by the end! There were nicely written, memorable moments such as the calfing and bet scenes. I will definitely seek out more to read/listen from both narrator and author.

Texas Rough

I enjoyed listening to Kale Williams, brought the book to life.

This is a love story between hardy men, it has twists and turns . Both of them in the closet. Gresh is Lane’s boss and Gresh’s father has lined him up to marry. We have romance , so very hot scenes . I loved this book. We do get a HAE.

Recommend. Beautifully written.
