Great story

I love this team. Jean Brashear is a very talented author and Eric Dove has a most remarkable voice that he puts to good use as narrator of this audiobook.
The story itself kept me enthralled. Little bits of info about Scarlett's past were dropped into the telling while the love story between her and Ian was created.
I love the tightness and caring and helpfulness of the small town and the message of family that was woven into the tale.
All this makes for a great story that will appeal to lovers of a good mystery and a beautiful love story.

I Love Sweetgrass Springs

What did you love best about Texas Roots?

The whole vibe throughout the story. The characters are sweet (some.) Sweetgrass Springs is the ideal small Texas town-I can imagine it perfectly as I have been to several.

What other book might you compare Texas Roots to and why?

Shannon Stacey's Kowalski Family series. They are about family and looking out for friends and neighbors, new & old.

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Scarlett because she is trying to do the right thing while keeping herself safe...and, Ian *sigh* swoon worthy performance, Eric G. Dove

Any additional comments?

On the run from danger

Scarlett thought she was alone with no family left after her mother died. While going through her mother's papers she found she had a grandmother in Texas. She needed a place to hide out until it was time to testify against men who used her restaurant to hide their bad actions.
I absolutely loved this story. When she meets her grandmother had me crying for joy. I got a kick out of her meeting Ian for the first time. (Why can't all men be Texas men? The world would be a much better place. Sigh)
Eric G. Dove does a great job of narrating.
As usual, another wonderful book by Jean Brashears.

Loved It!

This audible is very good. Awesome storyline with Scarlet and Ruby and Ian. Scarlet and Ian confront internal and external "roadblocks". if you enjoy a good romance, I highly recommend this audible. Eric G. Dove does a great job as narrator. And as always, Jean Brashear does an awesome job of writing a story that captures the reader from start to finish!

4.5 stars

I loved Ian and Scarlett. Both were able to free themselves of issues from their past. Ruby was able to get a little closure along with the love of a granddaughter. Both Ruby and Scarlett had sassy characters that were fun to read about.

Great beginning to the Series. A quick, engaging read for of love, romance, loyalty to family and friends, and a strong sense of community. The chemistry between Ian and Scarlett didn't hurt either.

Once again, Eric Dove brought life to an already excellent story. It gave an enhanced feeling to the characters and the overall feel of the story.

I voluntarily listened and reviewed this audio book received from the author.

A Great book as a read or listen!

I first read this book in 2014. One of the first books I read written by Jean Brashear. I absolutely love her writtings. The books are well written with great storylines! It's always hard to put her books down because I get so invested in the characters. Seeing characters from other books make it better, but this is a great standalone as well. I love long trips where I can listen nonstop!!

Eric Dove does a great job narrating. I can listen to him all day.

Brashear and Dove make a great team.

Texas Roots offers everything but the kitchen sink. Brashear has crafted a ghostly tale of love lost and hopes revisited. Scarlett and Ian are a bit players in a tale as intriguing as the shadows that haunt the legendary fabled spring that serves as a backdrop for this small town. Scarlett is on the run from demons in her past. Her getaway provides her the chance to get answers to some long overdue questions about herself and the family she never knew existed. Ian is her chance at salvation. He rescues her from a life full of loneliness and she shows him the meaning of true love. With the forces determined to tear them apart, can they break the curse of the woman with a broken heart and find their own chance at forever? As always Brashear and Dove make a great team when it comes to captivating romance.

Ian & Scarlett

I loved Scarlett and Ian in this story about both of them looking for something more in their lives. Ian thinks he knows everything about his father and their past, but the pain had his father hiding many things. Scarlett discovers herself in danger and runs to meet a grandmother she never knew she had. Ruby is a character and is trying her hardest to bring the town back on the map. I always adore this narrator, Eric G. Dove.

Endearing!

Fleeing from scandal Scarlet Ross decides to visit Sweetgrass Springs and find the grandmother she never knew she had until her mother died. There she discovers a place her heart longs for and a man she could easily fall in love with, however can she take the chance that her secrets will catch up to her and put everything she now cherishes in danger? I totally fell in love with Ruby and Ian right from the moment they were introduced. Scarlet didn’t stand a chance with those two! This is such an endearing story and I loved every minute of it. Eric Dove once again draws us in with his amazing narration. I can’t wait to listen to more from Sweetgrass Springs!
