Everyone thinks Lacey DeMille is the next thing to royalty, a society girl with beauty, brains and money-but sexy Texas bad boy Devlin Marlowe knows better. Twenty years after being exiled in disgrace for daring to want her, the boy from the wrong side of the tracks has sweet revenge in his grasp...for only he knows that her whole life is built on a lie.

And revenge may be more costly than either of them can imagine.

Texas Heroes

Jean Brashear wrote another wonderful book in the Texas Heroes Series! I do believe it was my favorite. I had already read this book once. Listening to it was equally great or actually even more so. Eric Dove's performances bring the books to life. This is a must read/listen too book! It can be a standalone, but you'd be missing out by not reading the rest!

So begins the heartache that is Texas Bad Boy.

There's a reason and a consequence behind the decisions that we make. At the time, we may not understand them, but in time we'll teach ourselves to live with them. So begins the heartache that is Texas Bad Boy. The ballad of Lacey and Devlin started before they even met. It's littered with prideful adults, heartbreaking tragedy and the stranglehold of one man that permeates a small town. Caught in the middle is the seedling of a love that is forcibly snuffed out. Or is it? Brashear's tale of lost love and tragic pasts is a haunting one. Will the mechanations of a spiteful man and a vengeful heart prove the undoing of a precious love? Texas Bad Boy has all the emotion of a whiskey filled love song. Between Mr. Dove's emotive delivery and Ms. Brashear's expressive wording, Lacey and Devlin read like a spiritual experience.

Love those Texas boys!

Dev is a private investigator charged with finding the "lost" sister. Imagine his surprise when she turns out to be Lacey, a girl from his past. I loved the back story of the trouble his father was in and who caused it, and how it affected Lacey and Devlin in the present. Eric Dove does such a good job of reading on the Audible book. Jean Brashear always provides a great story.

Dev and Lacey's Secrets

I read this book a couple of years ago. Listening to the audiobook was an interesting change. The narration pulled me into the story in a much different way then reading it did.

The narrator did an excellent job verbally capturing each personality. I could completely forget that Eric Dove was Maddie's and Lacey's voice as well as Boone, Dev, and Mitch.

This was a good read on its own. It hints at a mystery. Has its own car share of secrets and angst, but up to had the same foundation of family, love, and support as the other Morning Star books.

I voluntarily listened to and reviewed the audiobook, but I own the ebook.

Lacey & Devlin

Lacey doesn't feel like she fits in her posh life and Devlin knows why. He is there to tell his long ago girlfriend the truth. Lacey and Devlin believe the other betrayed them. They never talk about anything. Lacey acts like a naive child instead of the thirty-something she is. Revenge is in the past except in Lacey's father's eyes. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Past revenge to future love

Where does Texas Bad Boy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Texas Bad Boy is my favorite of The Gallaghers of Sweetwater series. It takes two star-crossed teenagers from their tragic past to the future fraught with misunderstanding, mixed with desire and love. This book gathers all the pieces of Lacy's and Devon's past to create a cohesive future, while finishing the series with the promise of happily ever after.

What other book might you compare Texas Bad Boy to and why?

Texas Bad Boy is perfect for listeners who have enjoyed Carolyn Brown's Happy Texas, Lucky Penny Ranch, and Burnt Boot,Texas series. Also of like mixed emotions are the Cupid, Texas and Twilight, Texas series. All combine a resolution of pain with the promise of joy in the morning.

Which character – as performed by Eric G. Dove – was your favorite?

Lacy was my favorite character as performed by Mr. Dove. He has a voice that lends itself equally to either gender.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was especially touched by the scene in which Lacy meets the Gallaghers and find total acceptance for who she is-their sister. For someone so lost at this point, it was a healing point for Lacy. And the fact that Devon was willing to do all he could to facilitate this even though he stood to lose her touched me.

Any additional comments?

I received a copy of the audiobook from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review; all conclusions are my own.

WOW!

What a great audiobook. Each one gets better and better. Jean tells a story and I can't stop the audio. I'm drawn in from the very beginning. This Texas Heroes Book is part of the Gallagher's of Morning Star. This is the story of private Investigator, Devlin Marlowe and the wealthy socialite, Lacey DeMille.
I just love the voice of narrator, Eric G. Dove. He is excellent and so easy to listen to. The characters come to life and are written with such depth. There are heartaches, and secrets, and lies, and sadness. But there are also sparks, second chances, love, and sheer happiness.
I highly recommend this audible if you are a fan of a romance novels.

Heartwarming!

This was such a heartwarming and touching story. Devlin has come a long way since he was the Bad Boy from the wrong side of the tracks. Lacey is the next best thing to royalty however she doesn’t feel that way at times. Devlin is looking for revenge for what he thinks happened when he was forced to leave town. Lacey believes she was wronged when Devlin left without a word. Now they are once again thrown together when Devlin is hired to find Maddie, Boone and Mitch Gallagher’s missing half sister. Misunderstandings and lies have come between Devlin and Lacey for so long, will love find a way? This is truly a wonderful story and I loved listening to Eric Dove narrate every minute of it. He always brings these stories to life and brings Jean Brashear’s stories right into our homes. I never hesitate to listen to anything Eric narrates or Jean writes. Thank you both for another great story.
