Terror on the Appalachian Trail
by Harlan Blackwell

A solo trek into the mountains was supposed to be peaceful. But the Appalachian Trail holds something far older—and far hungrier—than solitude.

When experienced hiker Martin Ellis disappears without a trace, his last journal entries hint at unnatural cairns, shadowy watchers, and a forest that shifts around those who enter. Weeks later, another backpacker arrives, unaware that the trail is watching—and waiting.

A skin-crawling horror story set deep in the wilderness, where what returns from the woods may not be human at all.

Skip this one. It may be short but it still manages to get tedious. The same generic forest horror story, repeated over and over again with different characters. It could have been a decent creepypasta with a lot of editing, but it doesn’t work in this format. The virtual narration is awful, but I’m glad I now know to avoid those titles.

a great short story that has the authentic ring of someone that's walked the Appalachian trail.
