Welcome to Camp Silverside

Summer camp is a time for making new friends, learning valuable life skills, and having fun in the sun…

…and Cammie Winters is dreading every boring minute of it.

That is until weird things start happening and Cammie, with the help of her brother and fellow campers, delves into the mysteries of the camp.

Missing children, an off-limits island, and a rumor of an indescribable creature lurking in the waters will make this summer at Camp Silverside anything but boring.

I got this for my 8YO daughter cuz she had loved a previous book by Muthing. I read ahead of her to make sure it wasn't too scary, and ended up finishing myself because I just HAD to know how it would end. While I loved Arts and Crafts more, kiddo seemed to enjoy them equally. This one scared her a bit more, and kept her up late listening one night.
She liked the monster and comparing and contrasting the characters from this story and her previous Muthing read.
In her own words - "I love it! It was scary and cool.:

Cammie isn't too keen on going to summer camp at Camp Silverside. When she arrives, she first encounters a strange girl named Alice, then a trio of entitled rich girls. Can things get any worse?

YES, of course they can! Soon, we are introduced to a crazy old man named Gus and a story about a monster called Octoman. But, when Cammie and some of the other campers see what appears to be an octopus-like creature in the lake, she is determined to find out what is actually happening.

This is a great book for middle school kids (as well as adults!) who enjoy Goosebumps-type books. Full of mystery, a few horrible people and a strangely gentle monster, I thoroughly enjoyed following Cammie and friends as they try to uncover the truth.

The narrator is also the author and she does a great job and added a lot to the book. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys this type of book!
