maybe my expectations were too high
Where to start other than the beginning? I felt the story started off excellent, got slow in the middle kinda lost its way entirely and then finished ok. Without giving too much away the middle chapters were a real chore tonget through. I have enjoyed Mr Hills shie and stories in this setting but this felt needlessly stretched out. sorry for gammer spelling typing this out on mobile.
get it for the beginning bits and the wonderfully descriptive setting.

Great trip into the bowels of Necromunda.
I was a little surprised to see folks saying that the protag is a Mary Sue - not sure that any bits of this story suggest she is. I will say this book has me in love with my Eschers and will be happily putting together a box in honor of the Wild Hydras.
Emma Noakes did a great job voicing. :>

A Truly Grimdark Tale
Unpopular opinion. The vast majority of 40K...isn't Grimdark. Its more Heavy Metal Absurdism, especially whenever the Orks show up. But Terminal Overkill is genuinely grim dark, and appropriately so. It really goes into all the gross details of how bleak life would be in the lowest pits of a hive world, even for a skilled Escher warrior. The main character doesn't have any higher goals than survive, and make gain power. Despite the simple plot the book doesn't have you rooting for her the whole way through. The story drags in a few spots, making the final act feel a bit rushed, but I was still hooked the whole way through.

Fodor's Guide to Necromunda
A great listen for those who already know, or are interested in, the Necromunda setting. If you aren't, how the hell did you even get here?
Excellent narration, and the main story, while entertaining, is really overshadowed by the richly detailed descriptions of the places and peoples of the underhive. Want to know what a fatberg fed by 10 billion people is like? Then this book is for you! Fits nicely with the new line of miniatures without being heavy handed and pays plenty of homage to oldhammer and the new apocrypha.

i wanted to read about Necrominda....and this was?
It was good not great. Brielle was a fun character (sidebar....what's with the badass female characters being named Brielle. This and Rogue Trader. I loved both characters)
The narrator did great, and I truly equated her voice with the characters. Which means they did good enough for me to forget about it being narrated.
The problems came from pacing. It let me know who the major players were and who the main characters in a way that built up the setting. A lot of the story just jumped forward in ways that felt incongruous with pacing in other parts of the book. Its still an interesting book but the jumps ahead would kind of leave cold to the characters. it did this just enough to make it hard to finish the book.
Oddly enough I am still interested in the follow up to this book that it alluded to. So it was good with small improvements the next book will be great.

What makes this novel good is the attention to details of the underhive. How people live? What do they eat? The story is secondary in my opinion. it's decent, but not amazing.

When is the next one?!
At first I feared the story was just going to be a slow monologue then when it picked up I was eager to go back to the beginning to make sure I didn't miss out on any vital moments of the story. I was hooked and was quite pleased how Emma narrated the story. More please, I have a whole bunch of Escher miniatures to paint and I need more inspiration to listen to whilst I'm painting.

Underappreciated, immersive & great!
I really enjoyed this book from the Necromunda setting of Warhammer 40K by Justin D Hill! It's the first and only Necromunda book I've read so far and I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think this book highlights the potential for great books in the Necromunda setting. The smaller scale and at least for me inherently very interesting world of Necromunda is a great setting for storytelling and Justin D Hill really shows that off in this book, he really brings the world alive and immerses you in the setting showing different aspects of it without hindering the story. I would to listen to more Necromunda books on Audible, but at least currently this is the only one available. I'm not sure how good the others are, but I think there's great potential here. It seems like this setting is underappreciated and doesn't sell as well, which is a great shame, since that means we are unlikely to get many more books set in it. Hopefully we'll get some anyway, I would really encourage anyone even slightly interested in Necromunda to listen to this or even if you are just interested in 40K, I would still recommend this as it's a great book on it's own.
The narration by Emma Noakes is really good as well, maybe not as good as the book itself, but still very good. Some of the other characters, especially male, sound a bit silly and some emotional parts sound a bit "over acted", but other than that the narration was good.
I highly recommend this book!

... Well performed, you do feel like a part of the hive scum that the book is about when following the protagonist. It's more Necromunda than 40k and that is a good thing.

dark and grimey
Enjoyed this well-performed look into the world of Necromunda, the best character is the hive city itself. Found a few of the male voices a bit jarring but very appropriate for the outlook of the main character as she retells her life story.

Loved it! Want more like this.
Avid 40k reader and this is one of my favorite books. Great story and exploration of necromunda, fantastic narration. At times I felt really gripped in the drama and events, more so than useally , not to say the whole book was not engaging but I am talking nearly angst inducing trepidation and anticipation. It really immersed me in the story and I can't recommend it enough.

Die you scummers
As a fan of Justin I started this audio with high hopes, which weren’t dashed. The story is a wonderful mix of events as they happen and wistful repost. The narrator gives the right tones to the story as it really wouldn’t work being narrated by a male. A truly wonderful story that paints a vivid and sometimes disturbing image of the underhive...... Large spiders anybody?!?!? Kudos to you sir!

pretty awesome
The first half of this book has the same intensity of the opening scene of Mad Max fury road and it's a pretty awesome look into Necromunda. The one slight I would give it is some time jumps I felt made the pacing a bit off.
