From the author of Marine Sniper—the classic true account of Sergeant Carlos Hathcock—comes a gripping and gritty new novel about a sniper on the trail of al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in post-9/11 Iraq...

At age twenty, Marine Scout-Sniper Jack Valentine had his first kill in Iraq at the start of the Persian Gulf War. Now, it’s 2006, and he’s back in Baghdad, obsessed with taking down al-Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Jack missed his first shot at Zarqawi, and it’s haunted him ever since—even though the attack struck fear into the black hearts of the jihadists and earned him the name the Ghost of Anbar.

Now leading his own special operations platoon, Jack is determined to hunt down and take out his target this time. But the jihadists are not his only enemies. The ruthless amoral leader of a band of mercenaries is feeding al-Qaeda secret information—and also pursuing the love of Jack’s life, FBI agent Liberty Cruz. Jack may soon find himself in the crosshairs if he doesn’t eliminate his rival first...

Managed 5 chapters. As a veteran I found the story uninteresting and the amount of profanity unacceptable. A complete waste of money. I won't be bothering with anything from this author again.

Boring and Too Much Profanity

character development was good, but the story didn't flow too well. I stayed with the book because of the voice performance.

Mr. Henderson takes his superstitious beliefs seriously as he likes to pontificate various religious information and beliefs throughout, at least within the first two hours when I gave up listening. Some of it is actually interesting as a lifelong atheist I will readily admit to not being too knowledgeable on the Muslim sects. But if I wanted religious instruction, I would have used a credit for an academic audible book.

I hated to do this. This is the first book I could not finish. Story line is so choppy, way too drawn out and not needed and profanity is WAY too much. You could not get through 1 minute without a whole lot of profanity. I get it, it’s the military but still this is overkill. I’ve listened to a lot of military books both fiction and non fiction and never have I had to deal with that much profanity. It’s almost like the author went for a world record on how much profanity he could use.

Profanity laced and too boring to finish
