"Johnson follows her joyous debut with a delightful spin-off. Her rapier wit and comedic timing lure readers into a romance that proves laughter is best shared with those you love." ( RT Book Reviews)

Finally found the audio book of this great story!

I have loved this book forever and am extremely happy to find an audio book of it. Very well written series that has been out for a long time. Wonderful characters that are well described and the books have everything a good romance needs (comedy, angst, adventure, adversity, and realized love).

These characters remind me of the Malory family from a Johanna Lyndsey series that are based during the same Regency time frame. Especially the first 3 books of that series.

Tempting Fate

Loved the relationship between the two main characters. Very easy listen. The narration was good.

Charming and fun

Great story and lots of fun. H and H lovely throughout — not just at the beginning. I also like Carmen Rose. Others have complained about both. Narrator is fine and the banter continues throughout. The vile behavior of uncle toward Mira is upsetting but all done with taste. Other reviewers complained about the sex but I thought it was perfect and made sense and belonged exactly where it showed up. I loved also that it wasn’t some huge deal. The bits of intimacy between hero and heroine were perfectly calibrated throughout — maybe even a little lighter than it could have bee:) I think the unconsummated romances feel awkward. I didn’t read the first one so now I’m going to. Also looking forward to Evie’s story. Love all the strong women!!

HORRIBLE Narrator

This narrator is awful. She cannot do voices. It's hard to tell who is speaking as they all sou d exactly the same. Ugh. How do these people get these jobs.?

Sweet

I enjoyed the banter and the underlying love story throughout. The suggested Evie story is intriguing. the end wrap up was not as good as I’d hoped, But I guess I’ll have to read the next one to complete it😊

Good & Disappointing At The Same Time

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The truce between Mirabelle and Whit. I had listened to two other books in this series before this one and not in order. First it was Evie, then Sophie and now Mirabelle. When I was listening to Sophie's story (As Luck Would Have It [book 1]) I couldn't wait to finish it because I loved Mirabelle and Whit's interaction more and it made me laugh! But shortly after this book starts, they have a truce which completely sucked because their bickering is what was so funny.

What didn’t you like about Carmen Rose’s performance?

I didn't like her voice for Whit. I have heard 4 audiobooks done by Carmen Rose and this one has got to be the most disappointing. It's like she couldn't come up with a voice for Whit and so at times when "he" was supposed to be speaking it was just her own voice; no change in tone or anything. Sometimes you had to really pay attention from the transition to Whit speaking and narration being done.

I really like Carmen Rose; her best accents for men by far is first Scottish and secondly Irish.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, if rated PG-13.
The one thing I hate about romance books is that hardly any of them are clean & wholesome. I enjoy the stories more...so if any sexual scene comes up, I always fast forward and skip those parts.

Any additional comments?

If anyone plans on listening to the other books in the series, the women don't get any better and neither do the men...I think they were better off not being in a relationship!

The *sweetest* enemies-to-lovers story!

I love all of Alissa Johnson’s books. No lie. I even sent her an email begging her to have all of her books put into audio format but if you’re going to go with one, this is the book. Mirabelle and Whit are so adorable *sigh* and the book is so much fun all around! You will love it, believe me. And Alissa, if you’re out there reading this, I still really really really want to listen to all of your books in audio. I have the romance package and I am such a doofus that I purchased this book so I can play It over and over again! You’re the best!

P.S. if it’s not too much to ask, please have Carmen Rose narrate all of your books? She’s awesome too!

This was fun, funny, enjoyable however...

I liked the premise, the story was good. The characters had lots of fun dialogue and funny situations. I enjoyed the back and forth banter and the narrator did a great job. I just wish the idea that there must be sex in a book to make it read worthy would be reconsidered. The one sex scene was unnecessary, didn’t add anything important to the story and too much information, although perhaps well written - just not necessary. I think a stimulating story engages the imagination without so many physical details .

Years long animosity over childhood scrabble leads to love

Didn’t like the side story of nasty adolescent. Never like when titled fellow “takes” a woman without first making his intentions of marriage clear.
