Loved the story/writing. Disliked narration.

Narrator didn't suit this story at all. Very old fashioned, plumby, accent and sounded like Dick Emery/Les Dawson when 'voicing' the local, Yorkshire-based, female characters. Stuck with the book despite an intense dislike for the narration because the story was so engaging. Looking forward to the film.

Just no

Whose idea was it to have a lesbian book narrated by a man. Eurgh. He wasn't even a good narrator at that.

Great story but narration hinders it

It’s a lovely well written and beautiful book. I was immediately sucked into it. However, the narration was atrocious. His pronunciation was not good and his voice just wasn’t clear. The narrators voice also did not suit the tone of the book imo.

Great literature

Remains me of “The price of salt”. It is a relatable story, with wide view and a plot full of details. Highly recommend this book, you will be reacher after the read.
