Publisher's summary

New York Times best-seller.

A story-driven collection of essays on the 12 powerful phrases we use to sustain our relationships, from the best-selling author of Glitter and Glue and The Middle Place

"Kelly Corrigan takes on all the big, difficult questions here, with great warmth and courage." (Glennon Doyle)

Named one of the best books of the year by Real Simple and Bustle.

It's a crazy idea: trying to name the phrases that make love and connection possible. But that's just what Kelly Corrigan has set out to do here. In her New York Times best-selling memoirs, Corrigan distilled our core relationships to their essences, showcasing a warm, easy storytelling style. Now, in Tell Me More, she's back with a deeply personal, unfailingly honest, and often hilarious examination of the essential phrases that turn the wheel of life.

In "I Don't Know", Corrigan wrestles to make peace with uncertainty, whether it's over invitations that never came or a friend's agonizing infertility. In "No", she admires her mother's ability to set boundaries and her liberating willingness to be unpopular. In "Tell Me More", a facialist named Tish teaches her something important about listening. And in "I Was Wrong", she comes clean about her disastrous role in a family fight and explains why saying sorry may not be enough.

With refreshing candor, a deep well of empathy, and her signature desire to understand "the thing behind the thing", Corrigan swings between meditations on life with a preoccupied husband and two mercurial teenage daughters to profound observations on love and loss. With the streetwise, ever-relatable voice that defines Corrigan's work, Tell Me More is a moving and meaningful take on the power of the right words at the right moment to change everything.

"It is such a comfort just knowing that Kelly Corrigan exists: she is somehow both wise and self-deprecating; funny but unafraid of pain; frank but gentle. She is the sister/mother/best friend we all wish we could have and because of this big-hearted book, we all get to." (Ariel Levy, author of The Rules Do Not Apply)

"With full-bodied humor and radical sensitivity, Kelly Corrigan transforms the mundane pain of life into a necessary spiritual text of sorts, one that reminds us that we have the right to grieve but the obligation to be grateful. This book will remind you that you are human and of the fragile loveliness of being so." (Lena Dunham)

Critic reviews

"That she is so candidly aware of her own shortcomings...makes the journey of discovery with her great fun." (USA Today)

"Kelly Corrigan wrote the book - well, make that four - on the heart-tugging joyride that happens in real life. Whether she's being diagnosed with cancer in her thirties or watching her bigger-than-life father beat cancer or wryly observing other family members as well as herself, Corrigan's books are inspiring as well as so much fun to read." (Parade)

"With heartfelt humor and penetrating insight, Corrigan uses the pain, anguish, failure, and occasional successes in her life to explore the vital connection between the words we say and the relationships we develop, both with the people around us and ourselves.... Moving and deeply personal, Corrigan's portraits of love and loss urge readers to speak more carefully and hold on tighter to the people they love." (Kirkus Reviews)

Kelly is a perfect mix of reality and humor

I read this book in February when it came out prior to seeing Kelly Corrigan on her book tour. I loved this book as I have loved all of her books. I decided to download it on audible as well since she narrates it. This is something I will listen to over and over again. Kelly's raw topics, reality and humor make her a wonderful author. You feel as though you know her through her writing. I have also gifted this book to no less than 7 people! This will be one for the ages.

She Does it Again!

Kelly-you nailed it again...all of the thoughts and uncertainties...the questioning...the dark side of being a parent and a human. And, with that raw realness...you are able to go beneath the surface to a place where, regardless of how the outside looks and what the specifics are, we can all connect to. I have followed you since that You Tube video speech you gave talking about the Pigeons...and, then, your own pigeons. I feel like we have been friends for years. Xo

Delightful! Let Kelly tell YOU more!!

Tell Me More is a down-to-earth novel that fires on every emotional cylinder. I went from uncontrollably laughing out loud on my walk (I’m sure I had plenty of snooty neighbors looking my way- whatever) to having tears pouring down my face as Kelly reflects on the life of her best friend, Liz, and her battle with cancer. Love, love, LOVE the Audible version as Kelly’s voice, like her story, is true, heartfelt, and sincere. This is a must-listen; Kelly Corrigan will make a difference in you just as she’s made one in me. You’ll be wishing she would tell you more. Don’t hesitate! Listen now! Six stars!! ******
