Publisher's summary

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

Enter Vince Taylor.

Vince is everything Paul isn't: Sexy, confident, and dumber than the proverbial box of rocks. And for some reason, Vince pursues Paul relentlessly. Vince must be messing with him, because there is no way Vince could want someone like Paul.

But when Paul hits Vince with his car - in a completely unintentional if-he-died-it'd-only-be-manslaughter kind of way - he's forced to see Vince in a whole new light. The only thing stopping Paul from believing in Vince is himself - and that is one obstacle Paul can't quite seem to overcome. But when tragedy strikes Vince's family, Paul must put aside any notions he has about himself and stand next to the man who thinks he's perfect the way he is.

Good story, funny.

Pauses between chapters and transitions too long. I kept thinking the app on my phone had closed.

Glad I Bought This One

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

No - This genre is my secret guilty pleasure.

What did you like best about this story?

It was funny; laugh out loud, tears rolling down the face at traffic lights funny at times. Loved the characters. All in all a sweet story.

What does Michael Lesley bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Flamboyance. The gay flair. The narrator read Paul's part to perfection.

Who was the most memorable character of Tell Me It's Real and why?

All the characters were funny but the most memorable was Paul of course. He was such a funny person without meaning to be.

Any additional comments?

The beginning was a little rocky for me because I was having a hard time keeping up with what the narrator was saying, he was speaking so fast; and then all of a sudden my brain just clicked in to the narrator's pace and I was able to keep up. It was smooth sailing from then on. The author's story and narrator's voice combined to create an extremely funny listening experience.

WARNING! Do not listen to this book while driving!

Where does Tell Me It's Real rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Best book ever for comic relief!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Paul, he has no barrier between his brain and his mouth.

Which character – as performed by Michael Lesley – was your favorite?

Sandy, Michael Lesley did not break character and made Sandy & Helena a strange combination of split personality but solid at the core.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Does it count if I laughed until I cried... hence the warning... don't drive while listening.

Any additional comments?

Want to hear more on both counts TJ Klunes stories and Michael Lesley's rendition. Killer combo.

Funny Look at Love

A humorous look at falling in love while tripping all over yourself. It is about being your own worse enemy. Paul is clumsy and is unsure of himself. Vince seems perfect but even perfect people have insecurities and need their own set of reassurances, love, and patience.
