Meghan Chase used to be an ordinary girl...until she discovered that she is really a faery princess. After escaping from the clutches of the deadly Iron fey, Meghan must follow through on her promise to return to the equally dangerous Winter Court with her forbidden love, Prince Ash. But first, Meghan has one request: that they visit Puck - Meghan's best friend and servant of her father, King Oberon - who was gravely injured defending Meghan from the Iron Fey.

Yet Meghan and Ash's detour does not go unnoticed. They have caught the attention of an ancient, powerful hunter--a foe that even Ash may not be able to defeat....

    Any additional comments?

It had been well over a month since reading, Iron King, so Winter's Passage was the perfect segue back to Iron Daughter. I was reminded of the story, character's and why I wanted to continue with the series.

    Moving On!

I do mindless data entry in an open concept office. Young adult, romance and novels with simple story lines help me focus on my work.

    "short"

It was short and I wonder why it is not combined with the next book. I wonder if it was written after the next book? the story still has my attention but I am not totally wrapped up in it.

Faery romance that drops off at the end. I guess you are supposed to read the next story. Narration is not bad. The story has some good descriptions but falls flat.

Confusing at first only because it's been a while since I finished the first book of this series. Other then that, it left you wanting more....

"Added very little (nothing, really) to series"

Could easily have skipped this and not feel like I missed a thing... Reader was above average (as usual). I'm having trouble justifying this being published separately, even as an ebook exclusive, unless it was free. Even then, it just didn't add any depth or dimension or new character insight. Waste of $3, VERY glad I didn't waste a credit.

I'm not sure how I came across the first book. This book although short, I enjoyed it and understood the friendship bond between the characters. The story is what happens before Meghan gets to the Winter Court. It will pull you in like me craving the rest of the books (o'〰`o)♡*✲゚*。

    "A good short story!"

This review has some slight spoilers to the first book in this series.

The good thing about coming to party late with this series is that I can read the series in order, with the short stories as well. I really enjoyed The Iron King, and I was glad that the short stories are available as audiobooks as well. This enabled me to listen to Winter's Passage before moving onto the next full length novel, The Iron Daughter.

Winter's Passage is set between The Iron King and The Iron Daughter and tells the story of Megan and Prince Ash travelling to the Winter Court, to meet Queen Mab. Along the way adventure finds the pair as they stop in to see Puck and try to avoid a Hunter seeking them out.

I have a confession: I am Team Puck. I don't know how anyone can be Team Ash. He's cold, heartless and I don't know how she can profess she loves him! Puck is funny, cute and adorable. Well Khristine Hvam's narration was so brilliant that I almost started to like Prince Ash! ALMOST! He's still cold and heartless, but Kristine's narration really helped show him in a new light.

I like how Julie Kagawa has given the readers this little interlude, showing a softer side to Prince Ash and their affection for each other.

Winter's Passage has really made me want to pick up The Iron Daughter right now. Luckily I have it in my Audible library already!

    Story
    "VERY UNECCESSARY"

I am loving this series, but, I'm growing tired & angry about these .5 books. Winter's Passage comes after book 1. So it's 1.5 in the series. I feel cheated by the author for buying it (yes, it was my decision to purchace it). I suppose it was intended to give you more of the story of what went on while Ash and the Princess are on their way to the Unsealy Court. While it may give you more information, the first half of the book is a copy & paste of the ending of book 1. I didn't learn anything more or needed by reading this 1.5 addition. If you look at the dates, which I did not do untill after I read/listened to it,

    Book 1: 2-1-10 Book 3.5 Summers Crossing 6-9-11
    Book 2: 8-1-10 Book 1.5 Winters Passage 9-1-12
    Book 3: 3-11-11 Book 4.5 Iron's Prophecy 9-1-12
    Book 4: 11-1-11

I feel each of the .5 books were after thoughts, which is fine except we're not learning anything new. Possibly 4.5 as it comes after the last whole book 4 will be useful as it comes before book 5 that has not been written. That is unless the next serties that coinsides w/ the Iron Fey series dealing w/the lost prince is book 5.

Don't let my above rant on .5 books discourage you. I deeply enjoy this series. I will keep purchacing the books w/no after thought. I will simply avoid the .5 books as a rule of thumb.
