Publisher's summary

From the beginning Daniel Mendoza has struggled with who he is and where he is going in life. Fatherless, Daniel learns from a myriad of male friends and neighbors who come into his life from childhood to adulthood about what it actually means to be a man. His journey is incomplete, as he dreams and yearns for his own father to teach him. When Dreams Abound: A Return to Chambers Lane is the telling sequel of youthful discord and aging regret over a span of decades from the perspective of one particular member of the Mendoza family.

Wonderful and touching!

I listened to this wonderful story twice, because it's that good. The story is about the Mendoza family, and in particular, young Daniel. It follows his life, exploring what drives him to dream his personal dreams, and the motivation behind his actions and decisions. Many of the things mentioned and situations in this story took me back to my own childhood. And as I age, those are pleasant journeys. I am sure I will listen to this again in the future. It's a terrific story narrated expertly. Bravo, Mr. Maldonado and Jack Nolan!

Not bad at all

I received a free code to listen to this book and I did so willingly

This book was quite all right to listen to... sometimes I got lost and had to start a chapter over... but it turned out to be a truly enjoyable story

The life of Daniel Mendoza

After listening to this book I finally understand the family dynamic a little more. I know understand why Daniel felt the he did and why his relationship with his siblings was so hard. I will admit that it made me sad because so many people grow up like this. Daniel Maldonado did one hell of a job with this book it is well written and the plot is very plausible. I received this audio book at my request. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Do not miss this exceptional book.

Searching for a father

The author really likes to include a lot of details. At first this made it difficult to want to continue with this book, but as I continued I realized it was all part of understanding Daniel from childhood to 50 years old. Like many, he was always missing a father and wanted to find his and came across various substitute ones along the way.

#2 of Chambers Lane, + Interesting, Semi-Autobiogr

Works as stand alone. An interesting entry into the Chambers Lane series, where I sense elements are author semi-autobiograhical. Focuses on main characters education.

Some Dreams are Worth Chasing!

After having listened to “From the Streets of Chambers Lane” by Daniel Maldonado, (book one in the series) I was consumed with curiosity about one character in particular, Daniel Mendoza. “When Dreams Abound” is his story and it not only answered my questions, it really made me come to know, understand, and profoundly respect Daniel Mendoza, and the man he ultimately became. Beautifully written, and perfectly narrated, this story managed to entertain me, at times enrage me, amuse me, and give me the occasional awe worthy moment! I am so very glad I listened, and so very glad I took the opportunity to get to know Mr Mendoza better. Five well earned stars!

The beginning...

I didn't realize that this was the 1st book showing the beginning of Daniel Mendoza, prior to his law firm days. Instead, this is a book full of true humans with imperfect lives. For me, it seemed to have more narrative than commentary between the characters. Much like a well written documentary. I enjoyed getting to know Daniel Mendoza's family. lol The narrator has a wonderful voice and great Characters. There seemed to be a lot of hesitation, breaking the flow, almost as if he was 'turning the page'.
I always enjoy the Author's, Daniel Maldonado, work and I was not disappointed with this one. Headed off to listen to Book 2!!

A Meaningful Character Study

An insightful story of Daniel's journey from childhood to adulthood and how his family experiences molded and shaped him. This is not a story to listen to on the side while you work and without the written book, I got lost at times regarding which POV was the focus as there was a large cast. I enjoyed the pace of the novel and the word pictures created about each character via small memorable snapshots in time. It was very effective. I was not super fond of the cadence of Jack Nolan's voice, but the narration is competent.
