From the internationally bestselling author of Ender’s Game comes the riveting finale to the story of Rigg, a teenager who possesses a secret talent that allows him to see the paths of people’s pasts.

In Pathfinder, Rigg joined forces with another teen with special talents on a quest to find Rigg’s sister and discover the true depth and significance of their powers. Then Rigg’s story continued in Ruins as he was tasked to decipher the paths of the past before the arrival of a destructive force with deadly intentions. Now, in Visitors, Rigg’s journey comes to an epic and explosive conclusion as everything that has been building up finally comes to pass, and Rigg is forced to put his powers to the test in order to save his world and end the war once and for all.

Series started well, then...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. The second book was so-so, filled with a little too much teen angst. Unfortunately, the third felt incomplete, like there were too many story lines and a machete was all that could be brought to bare. I understand what Card was trying to explore, but it feels like his characters kind of got away from him, and most of them weren't good enough characters to make that a positive.

Came for the story

Listened again for the philosophical discussions. I’d probably enjoy listening a third time. Good job.

slow

I didn't like how slow this book was. this is the 3rd book in the series but he explains everything like you never met these characters. plus he repeats conversations . over and over and over again. I found myself listening to the end just so I knew how he completed it. but it was a chore

Great series.

Great series. Had to go back and hear Ruins again before I could make sense of the beginning, but this book moves smoothly and wraps up the trilogy in a satisfactory ending.

nice but a little meh as the trilogy closer

First, the male narrators did a fantastic job and were clear even at 1.5x, the speed at which I listen. Orson Scott Card is a master storyteller which is why I am a little disappointed in this book as the trilogy closer. This book could easily have been expanded into two volumes. Maybe all the time slicing events got too much for the editors and so they cut out a lot of interesting information? In any case, the story wraps up almost like reading a list of events and starts falling apart with the aliens. That being said, the story was still enjoyable and nobody has style like Mr Card.

Too convoluted

I really like the characters in this book they are exceptionally likable people. Even with their faults and weaknesses you root for them, but the storyline just kept going and going and going and it didn't get any better. It's a convoluted mess - glad it's over.

Very difficult to follow

I have read and listened to numerous books by O. S. Card and this was the most difficult to follow.

Lackluster Finish

had I not been invested from the previous two books, I would have given up. I suspect ODC did give up while writing this, and rushed a conclusion with a truly minimal about if extrapolation.

For a series about time shapers, it lost track of impacts and had the characters stealing money from their ancestor, without any evidence shown of how that could randomize the population (when on another character that was spelled out in great detail... change when two people hook up, and a different baby will be born).
