Publisher's Summary

In this groundbreaking debut essay collection, actress Lily Collins - star of Mortal Instruments and the upcoming Rules Don't Apply - is opening a poignant, honest conversation about the things young women struggle with: body image, self-confidence, relationships, family, dating, and so much more.

For the first time ever, Lily shares her life and her own deepest secrets, underlining that every single one of us experiences pain and heartbreak. We all understand what it's like to live in the light and in the dark. For Lily it's about making it through to the other side, where you love what you see in the mirror and where you embrace yourself just as you are. She's learned that all it takes is one person standing up and saying something for everyone else to realize they're not alone.

By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Lily's honest voice will inspire you to be who you are and say what you feel. It's time to claim your voice! It's time to live your life unfiltered.

Celebrity gossip, but with an uplifting and inspiring twist

Lily definitely bares all without naming any names. From the relationship problems she's had with her dad to addiction and abuse, she uses her stories to try to reach out to others. I enjoyed that instead of viewing her issues with a victim mentality, she spins them in a positive light and spreads the knowledge she learned during her experiences.

I assumed from the backlash that initially sent a shockwave across the internet (readers attaching certain negative stories to good people) I would be reading with a chip on my shoulder as I felt like she would be talking down about people in her life. Instead I found that this book is certainly not reflective of the fans that have taken it and twisted her message. Her message in this book is of peace, love, and personal growth.

A good book for a teenage or young adult female to read to understand how to take the bad things that happen to you and turn them into learning experiences.

Skip this if you are over 13

I expected an easy listen from an actress whose movies I have admired, in it's place I listened to 3 chapters of what sounded like a very young girl reading from her diary. Skip it.

Not interesting to adults

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I did not finish it, it was so boring

What was most disappointing about Lily Collins’s story?

It was full of cliches and obvious advice

What three words best describe Lily Collins’s performance?

eloquent, cute, uplifting

Did Unfiltered inspire you to do anything?

Inspired me to stop reading it

Any additional comments?

It seems like a good book for teenagers but anyone who has been through as much as Lily or more would find this not helpful or interesting. i don't really need to hear about teen relationships

I love Lily Collins!

I liked the way she put her personal experiences out there to help others who are going through similar situations. I would recommend this book to young girls having a hard time finding their voice and accepting themselves.

Review for "Unfiltered"

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I commend Lily for opening up about some really vulnerable times in her life. However, the title being 'unfiltered' is a little misleading. While she writes about some challenging times in her life, it definitely feels like she is holding back on a lot. Everything was kept very vague without any of the real, honest details that listeners would expect from a memoir, specifically one titled 'Unfiltered.'

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I think the narrator could have dug deeper and gotten more vulnerable with the listeners. She has had some relatable experiences, but because she doesn't really dive into her raw emotions, it's not as easy to connect with her.

Was Unfiltered worth the listening time?

I do think it was worth the listening time if you are a fan of Lily Collins.

incredibly raw. honest and just what every woman o

incredibly raw. honest and just what every woman of all background needs to hear. especially that I have struggled with immense body image issues growing up till now at my 20s and with mental health, abuse, and addiction, eating disorder issues, the fact that a major still young actress is com0ketely open about her struggles and past and relationships has helped me u understand myself more and address the highs and lows of my life. thank you for inspiring me Lily. thank you more than anything in the world. from one girl love to another. 💙🤙
