Publisher's summary
Don’t miss the electrifying second book in the must-listen trilogy of the year!
With death only a heartbeat away, Gene and the remaining humans must find a way to survive long enough to escape the hungry predators chasing them through the night. But they’re not the only things following Gene. He’s haunted by Ashley June who he left behind, and his burgeoning feelings for Sissy, the human girl at his side.
Their escape takes them to a refuge of humans living high in the mountains. Gene and his friends think they’re finally safe, but not everything here is as it seems. And before long, Gene must ask himself if the new world they’ve entered is just as evil as the one they left behind. As their enemies close in on them and push Gene and Sissy closer, one thing becomes painfully clear: All they have is each other...if they can stay alive.
Chilling, inventive, and electrifying, The Prey is the second book in Andrew Fukuda's The Hunt series.

Story
Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse. Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

Great but I can't believe its's over.
Would you listen to The Prey again? Why?
I have listened to this series twice. The whole series was well written and it is always refreshing when the reader is on the same wave length.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prey?
The actual chase and the saving of the horse through the hell.

Fantastic World-Building and Concept
I found this book series as a kid and it still holds up today! The world-building is better than any other book I've read in recent years, and the main characters are relatable and well-written. The story is amazing as well, I'm downloading the third book as I'm writing this out.
Overall, I recommend this book for anyone who likes weird monsters, vampires and a good fight scene.

Why aren't more of you reading this series?!
I'm not a young adult and I'm not a vampire book fan, but I'm loving this series. The Prey was even better than The Hunt. Action-packed and intelligently written. I feel like Andrew Fukuda is a very careful and clean writer. He doesn't indulge in unnecessary detail, but somehow paints a vivid picture of characters and scenes for his reader.
Sean Runnette is perfect!
Your credits will be well-spent on this series. I'm looking forward to the final installment!

Great series! When does the next one come out?
Where does The Prey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It is definitely in my top five.
What did you like best about this story?
All of the suspense.
What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
You get truer sense of the characters. It is easier to picture each one.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were scenes that made me laugh.
Any additional comments?
So far this series is awesome! I've read many books from Audible, but this is my first review. That says a lot about this series!

Great Story, not just another rehashed vamp story.
Different from any vampire / zombie story out there, Prey gives you the blood sucking fiends with traditional vampire like qualities, but just not quite a "vampire. Scary and engrossing, it will keep you guessing and will have you scared. Hate that I am having to wait until November for the 3rd book.

Really fun series
The story is developing nicely, it moves slowly to start but ends on a definitely high note, I hope he makes another series with this level of creativity... Still like mark Tufo /runnette team better though, this story would be better with a bit more comic relief during the story
