Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling series!

The first book in the New York Times best-selling series The Lying Game, by the author of the best-selling Pretty Little Liars series, Sara Shepard.

Shortly before her 17th birthday, Emma discovers she has a long-lost twin named Sutton Mercer. She contacts Sutton, who agrees to a rendezvous but never shows up.

Curious at first, Emma slips into Sutton's ultra-glamorous life, assuming her identity. When it becomes clear that Sutton is not coming back, that someone made sure she never could, Emma plunges in to investigate who could have wanted her sister gone (a fairly long list, she discovers).

Unfortunately, taking over Sutton's life means innocent little Emma has inherited all that bad blood - and then some. Perfect for fans of Sara Shepard's number one New York Times best-selling series Pretty Little Liars, The Lying Game has all the juicy plot lines, to-die-for lifestyles, and compelling secrets that fans love.

AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Her voice was grating and distracting - couldn't get into the story. Not that it was easy to track, anyway.

Addictive

Any additional comments?

This series is really addictive and while I had guessed pretty quickly who the killer was I really wanted to listen to the rest of the series-- hear how it played out-- and confirm my suspicions. This is not at all like the short lived television series.

Fantastic!

This book was engaging and I can't wait for the next one. The only reason it may have been difficult to follow is because, the book is written from the dead sisters perspective. Soo There are twins who were separated at birth, one went into foster care, the other one was murdered and is now a ghost. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing the whole time. Pay attention and you will love it!

I just don't understand

I wanted so bad to like this book. I love Pretty Little Liars. But I cant for the life of me figure out: #1 Why they chose to have what sounds like a 9 year old little girl read this book. I mean the girl is what I'm guessing like 17 so why are they portraying her like a little girl, its extremely disturbing. #2 This story is hard to follow. The dead girl Stanton is narrating the story and she supposedly cant remember anything as Emma walks into her life. But yet she tells you all these things about her boyfriend and friends. I just cant follow it, its getting on my nerves.

Interesting enough for an adult to hear...

Would you consider the audio edition of The Lying Game to be better than the print version?

I have not read the print version of this book, so I am unsure of the difference.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Cassandra Morris?

Perhaps. Listening to this one sometimes made me feel like I was trapped in a 15 year old's conversation...which was sort of annoying.

Any additional comments?

The story was interesting. I enjoyed the story enough to really consider listening to the next one. The concept of the Lying Game was certainly different, and there were enough twists and turns to keep it good.

The narrator sounds like a child

The narrator sounds like a child and it is seriously creepy. I cannot get over the feeling of a child talking as an adult about sex and violence. I honestly had to force myself to listen until the end because the story was somehow engaging enough.

Beware, there are SIX books on this series

I bought this book on an Audible sale and that should've been my first clue. I wanted a lighthearted summer read, and this one had good reviews so I decided to give it a try. If you are not expecting a literature masterpiece, you would probably enjoy the book. It is well written, and although some of the situations are very forced (like how Emma found out about the existence of her twin sister), overall the plot is interesting and addictive, in a guilty pleasure king of way. I happily bought the second book, but at the end of that one, the killer wasn't even near to be revealed, and that really annoyed me. So here I am, going through the 3rd book only to find out that there are a total of SIX BOOKS! If this was only one fat book, I would probably would have given it 4 stars, as it did keep me guessing and entertained. As a trilogy I would've given it 3 starts. But 6 books??? I don't think I can stomach that, so I am just going to google who the killer is and be done with it.

Love this series so much!!

Where does The Lying Game rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I really don't know. I love books so much that I have a hard time telling which I like better.

What other book might you compare The Lying Game to and why?

Hmm, hard one. I would probably compare it to any mystery/chick lit novel out there.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved the scene where Emma tells Ethan who she really is, thus making him help her.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Emma realised her only family member is dead. That touched me a lot. The way she felt, really made me sad for her.

Any additional comments?

I think this book is really awesome. Forget about the TV Show. This is so much better.
