Publisher's summary

Using a cutting-edge technology called DHI - which stands for both Disney Host Interactive and Daylight Hologram Imaging - Finn Whitman, an Orlando teen, and four other kids are transformed into hologram projections that guide guests through the park.

The new technology turns out, however, to have unexpected effects that are both thrilling and scary. Soon Finn finds himself transported in his DHI form into the Magic Kingdom at night. Is it real? Is he dreaming?

Finn’s confusion only increases when he encounters Wayne, an elderly Imagineer who tells him that the park is in grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent, a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers is plotting to destroy Disney’s beloved realm, and maybe more.

This gripping high-tech tale will thrill every kid who has ever dreamed of sneaking into Walt Disney World after hours and wondered what happens at night, when the park is closed.

Awful narration

The narration of this book was so bad that we considered not even listening. The voices he switched back and forth between were so fake and over the top. It was almost painful to listen to. If there weren't more books in the series we probably would have stopped listening. I have read about half of the books in the series and my husband wanted to join in on the fun, so we continued to listen to this. Hopefully, he does not narrate the other books.

Disney Wonders still exist

my only issue was when I had read this series before, I had all the voices different in my head so at first the voices especially that of Wayne put me off but it was a minor set back

Interesting take on Disney

Very interesting story! Some of the character voices were a little bit obnoxious, but the story as a whole was good.

Fantastic family fun

What aspect of Gary Littman’s performance would you have changed?

At times the vocals were too quiet which made it hard for my daughter riding in the backseat to hear over the vehicle noise.

The best start to a series

I grew up with these books and every year I find myself going back and reading it again. I think I will do this for the rest of my life. Maybe one day this will be turned into a movie or a tv show but until then I will just use my imagination.

Good and Bad Memories

I first read the first book of the Kingdom Keepers with 2012 when my family and I were on vacation at WDW in Orlando Florida. I was 26 at the time. At the time in my life I was going through a very depressing time. I won’t include all the details, but I will say that I was struggling for a reason to live. I grew up in Miami and from a very early age grew to love WDW. It was and still is my happy place. My family was shopping in Downtown Disney or Disney Springs as it is now called. While shopping I happened upon the Kingdom Keepers books. Right there in the store I started reading the first book and while reading the depression that I had been suffering suddenly seemed to disappear as I was transported into the story along with Finn and his friends. During that trip I purchased and read all the books that were available at the time. I think only three were written at that time. These days when I think of what caused my deep depression and what eventually pulled me out of it I say Disney and/or Mickey Mouse saved my life. As the audiobook goes, I actually prefer the book to the audiobook. Perhaps due to the way I was first introduced to these books. The audiobook didn’t take me into the world of Disney with Finn and his friends the way the boom did. I didn’t much care for the narration. Sometimes reading the actual book is better than listening to it. This is one of those times.

Well done

I have the book, love it and wanted to listen to it on car rides rather than reread. The narration was very good and did not disappoint.
My only regret is that audible does not have book 2.
