Publisher's summary

Gordon Korman is an award-winning young adult author with over 50 titles to his credit. Told in an electrifying, hard-edged style, The Juvie Three follows a trio of young delinquents who are granted a very special opportunity in New York City.

Accessory to robbery, grand theft auto, driving without a license - these boys did it all, and now they're doing hard time in various juvenile detention centers. Then, however, a mysterious stranger visits each of them, offering to pull them out of "jail" immediately. But isn't there always a catch?

AMAZING!!

Really good author and story line. The boys were so endearing. Predictable near the end but that didn't bother me!

Good Read for Middle School Boys

If you could sum up The Juvie Three in three words, what would they be?

Good quick read.

What other book might you compare The Juvie Three to and why?

None that I can think of. First son and, being a female, didn't read such books as a child.

What does Christopher Evan Welch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Much more entertaining. My son does NOT like to read. He prefers to listen to the story and read along. He seems to get more enjoyment out of a book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Healy finally remembered his accident.

Any additional comments?

My son was hesistant about this required reading. However, by listening to the audible book, he enjoyed the book and I believe got more out of the story by listening to the reading.

Pretty good

I thought the book was pretty good. The only complaint would be that there were a lot of good parts, but in between them was way too slow.

Such an amazing book! Please give it a try!

About 12 years ago, I was in 8th grade, bored out of my mind, when I heard the school was having a book fair. This wasn’t particularly excited for me because I never really liked to read, but I figured I’d go see what they had, if for no other reason than to get out of class. As I looked at all the books on the shelves, everything seemed to be so unappealing, until I came across this book. “The Juvie Three”. Hmm. I read the description on the back and to my surprise, it peaked my interest. I started reading it and I couldn’t put it down. It was truly a miracle that a book had grasped my attention this much. I laughed, I cried, and I finished the book and relished in the experience of reading this book, the first book I’d ever truly paid attention to. I immediately read it again, and once I was done I rushed to the book fair desperately searching for another book from the same author. I found “Son of the Mob” and read it, and it was just as good! It’s now over a decade later and I’ve read these books countless times and i thoroughly enjoy them each and every single time. Please give this book a read.. it is quite literally the book that made me love books!

Reading may be better here

The reader had a nice reading voice but not for this book. The kids were suppose to be harden juvies but the voice had them a little sissy-like. Wasn't impressed by story or reader.

Middle School 8th Grade

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I bought this audio to accompany the novel for my 8th grade Language Arts classes. Although I enjoy an audio book, The Juvie Three audio was a bit dry and didn't play up the characters personalities to make the story interesting.

What other book might you compare The Juvie Three to and why?

I would compare this book to The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It has a lot of similarities. Both deal with boys coming of age, labeled as juvenile delinquents, making tough decisions that can be life changing, and ever changing relationships that many adolescents go through.

What didn’t you like about Christopher Evan Welch’s performance?

The book has a constant level of anticipation and excitement. Welch could have played up the character emotion more.

Was The Juvie Three worth the listening time?

Yes, it was great for my unsatisfactory and limited knowledge level readers. However, it was not enjoyed by my proficient and advanced level readers.
