Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of Summer Unplugged, The Immortal Mark is the first in a new paranormal romance series by Amy Sparling.

The only thing Cara got for her 18th birthday was an unexpected invitation to move out of her uncle's house. College isn't an option for a poor girl with average grades, so when her best friend Riley finds them a mysterious job opportunity that includes room and board, Cara is interested but thinks it sounds too good to be true.

The night before their interview, Cara has an epic night out with Theo, an impossibly handsome guy she just met. He's charismatic, a little mysterious, and it feels like she's known him her whole life.

When she runs into him at her interview, he's cold and elusive. He makes it very clear that he doesn't want her working with him, which only makes their mutual attraction burn hotter. Cara takes the job for Riley's sake and promises herself she'll avoid this jerk and his mood swings, no matter how hard it is to keep away from him.

Soon she finds out her millionaire employers aren't normal guys who live and travel in luxury. They're immortals. Theo wasn't trying to ruin her job prospects. He was trying to save her life, because the girls they hire never make it out alive.

Pleasantly surprised

The story captured me for the first chapter. This story is about two orphaned girls who became BFF growing up. And how s black cloud of bad luck keeps following theme. This story has adventure, suspense, romance and a bit of angst to go along with immortality. However, I was very disappointed that it ends in a cliffhanger. and no mention of another book to come. I still enjoyed the book. The narration was good.

I was provided a copy of this book from the author/narrator for a honey review.

A great read!

An intriguing start to this new series!

A read that will capture your attention right from the start. Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series. It was sooo good that I listened to it in one sitting - no breaks, no stopping, just sat and listened for 5 hours straight!

The narrator did a wonderful job of capturing the book.

Perfect for readers of paranormal romances.

Good start....

My husband & I listened to this on our work commute. He felt that this was more of a prequel, laying the groundwork for the series. That even as book 1, there wasn't a challenge/win for the characters. Mostly all backstory to get to the next book.

I was happy with the narration. Sometimes southern accents can be overdone & sound fake or hokie. These seemed natural.

wasn't sure at first, but loved it!!

Going someplace fun for the very first time is exciting! but then to meet a sexy stranger would double/triple that. Wasn't expecting the night to end that way but that was only the beginning. To be offered an opportunity that would change your life forever, going from hand-to-mouth/paycheck to paycheck/struggling to pay the bills to having anything and everything you could ever ask for, heck yea! but of course that has to be a catch... that's where they get you. Finding out what that catch was was a total shock to me, i was in no way expecting it.. and to end the book like that?? Hopefully there will be more books to come because i sooooo want to find out what happens next for everyone!!

Entertaining, sweet romance with some mystery

Narrator did a good job. She fit the characters well and the performance was clear. Solid quality performance. I’d recommend listening.

The story was entertaining and I liked the characters. The way Cara’s friend Riley is described; as drawing on her eyebrows, gave me a weird picture in my head, but she’s actually an awesome friend. They are both too gullible though; especially for girls that grew up mostly in the foster system. Cara grew up very poor with a bad mother; she was placed in the foster system for years before living with her uncle for awhile. She’s 18 now, her uncle is moving without her, so she needs to find a new place quick. An out of this world “job” opportunity is offered to her and her friend; if it’s too good to be true and all that. These girls needed to use their brains more; it was red flag city when they were in the “job” interview. Turns out there’s some weird stuff going on. The romance is sweet; there’s a good connection between Cara and Theo. They have a rather quick connection with some good passion. There’s some interesting ideas to the story, but this book felt a little basic. There’s not a lot of exciting things happening; this book may be mostly a setup book for the rest of the series, but I would’ve liked a bit more of a grander story. I do want to know what happens in the rest of this series though, so that’s a plus. Overall, there was enough interesting elements to keep me entertained and wanting more.

not soo good

This narration is not that good sometimes it gets too fast paced and sometime it's okay .and story is too much stressed who give 20 minute tour to house and everything is in detailed manner . also story is just not good I feel like it's very short story but author makes it long .

Good start but needed more

This was a good start to a series. For me, the main female characters seemed a bit winy because their lives had a bad start. To their credit, they were trying to get out of their situation, but they jumped into something new without really questioning why the new job seems so perfect. I'm honestly up in the air as to if I would listen to the next book in the series even though (and perhaps because of) a huge cliffhanger. I don't mind small ones in a series, but I felt this one was too much and didn't truly conclude the book properly.

The narration of the book was great. I'd definitely listen to books narrated by Sarah Puckett again.

Story wasn't bad, BUT...

This ends a cliff hanger.. you just start to enjoy the story, and boom, it ends. I hate that. I try really hard not to listens to books that get stretched out in to many books, when it can just be told in one book. I would MUCH rather pay more for one book, then have to buy 4 or 5 books of a story that has been chopped up in to smaller books that just leads to most money for the writer.
as much as i enjoyed what I heard of the book, I will NOT be buying book two, for this to happen again.
