Don't pass this one by! It's a definite MUST READ!

If you could sum up The Gender Game in three words, what would they be?

Loved this book!

What did you like best about this story?

The Gender Game was packed full of all my favorite things: adventure, the angst of a (PG-13) forbidden romance, action and good vs. evil. I really loved how the author built up the main character so that everything that happened made sense and was believable. I cared what happened to Violet. I was rooting for her and felt her pain, her joy, her shock and her heartbreak. I can't wait for the next installment of this story to come out!

Which scene was your favorite?

The romance angle was built up so enticingly well, that I must admit that last romantic part was my fave. However, that was definitely not all that this book was about!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The one that got me was "For fans of Hunger Games..." I think that is an accurate tag line that a lot of people would know how to respond to.

Any additional comments?

I also really, really, REALLY enjoyed the narrator! I am a huge fan of her work. She makes the characters and the stories come to life flawlessly! <3

cheesy narrator for a meh story

First of all, the narration was cheesy, unnecessarily dramatic and overdone. At first, I thought this book was okay, but it just kept getting worse. I struggled to finish and the fight scenes were narrated so hilariously that I almost laughed out loud a few times. I generally like ya fiction, and I liked hunger games. I just had trouble with the plot, it was rather boring. I knew I should be getting more excited toward the end, but I was very relieved when it was finished. it was pretty predictable, but I know I'm a good guesser. I wish the author would have stopped writing sooner, and it is rare for me to not be inclined to finish a series.

Predictable

Predictable story line. Not much substance. Whiny narration. Save your money and find something else

I love it!

I had this sitting in my to be read list for a long time. I think it was the title that pushed me away. After taking a look at the reviews I finally decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad I did! It was great right from the start and just gets better. It's geared toward the older YA crowd. I think that with a different title it would catch a lot more attention. I can't wait to see what the second book has in store, though it would be great as a stand alone book.

where is Zachary Webber oh ....there he is

I hardly ever review books but I got this one bc I always enjoy Zachary's choices of performances so the fact that he read 1 chapter at the end of the book was agriva ting. That being said this book has just enough interesting things going on that once the book picked up it's pace I enjoyed it.

Plot line is asinine in so many places.

This story is so full of holes. I was continually rolling my eyes at the lack of character development and motivation. Truly disappointing after all the reviews I read.

Ok story

This series was done a terrible disservice when they compared it to the Hunger Games. Though the story is good, neither the story nor the writing live up to the Hunger Games. I want to know what happens next in the story, but not sure I can handle any more of the writing. Note: I read the 1st two books before deciding to post.

Boooooring!

Moved so slow. Not at all like the other types of books in this genre. Read it bc Audible recommended and it was just 10 hours of waiting for something interesting to happen. Save your time and money.

Quick read, definitely kept my interest. Its not "The Host" but it is on par with divergent.

Ok, but nothing special

It tries to be like the Hunger Games, Divergent and Mazerunner...but while it is an ok story it really was nothing special and the ending was really rather disappointing.

Average

I didn't know this was a series so was a bit annoyed to discover it was. The writing is ok. Standard for YA dystopian fiction. Characters are somewhat enjoyable. The heroine isn't completely useless but it's not going to knock your socks off. Not sure why this received such high ratings. If you're an existing fan of the author you'll probably enjoy this. I was not and found it to be a bit 'meh' and a wasted credit.

Good listen

The Gender Games is a good book to listen to, interesting and exciting. The only couple of things to mention is that the story does take a while to get going so bare with it and there is quite descriptive adult few pages so be wary of allowing teens to listen to it

Not bad!

Spoilers!

Overall I quite liked the story line, the two countries split by male and female, the last chance to save herself and find her brother, the unexpected twist at the end of the book. I'll admit though when I first downloaded it I expected to only get through a few chapters before I turned it off but while I didn't bubble with excitement durning any part of the book or feel like I was connected to any of the characters with exception for Viggo, I did enjoy listening to it and will definitely have to listen to the next, I just hope what's in the egg isn't something as predictable as a Dragon embryo and that the next one is still quite realistic in regards to the boys of Matrus, Lee's planned destination and saving Viggo.

Rebellious Violet....intrigues me

Has a vibe of the Hunger games / Divergent etc but is not quite the same. I would class this as a little bit more grown up than you average young adult book, so I'd be a bit wary of younger naïve teen listening.

I can see myself really getting into this series to find out what happened next. As I can see several potential storylines opening up (in my head anyway) and padding out.

Violet is a likable character with fire and determination. You kind of want her to fight the system as it seems so unfair. here's hoping her feistiness gets her through....

Here's hoping the rest in the series are as good as I've just purchased them all.

Took a while to get into it but by the end I was hooked and will definitely be buying the second book. The narrator was good though some of the male voices were a little weird.

****not enough suspense****

They have likened it to hunger games and divergent but it fell short. its a poor cousin to those mighty books. I would loved more actions and thrills to it....but i will buy the next one just to find out what is that inside the egg. On the other hand the narrative is excellent tnx.

Good story

Reminded me of hunger games and divergent. Strong female lead. Quite a bit of gore and some science I wouldn't want my underage daughter to read just yet.
The narrator was ok, not an easy listen - especially when she does the male voices - but she tried. I was used to it by the end.
Looking forward to book !
