Publisher's Summary

What does it mean to be human?

Elijah Brighton is the face of the Human Resistance Movement. He's the Olympic-level painter who refused an offer of immortality from the ascenders - the human/machine hybrids who run the world - in solidarity with the legacy humans who will never get a chance to live forever.

Too bad it's all a complicated web of lies.

Worse, Eli's not even entirely human. Few know about the ascenders' genetic experiments that left him...different. Fewer know about the unearthly fugue state that creates his transcendent art - as well as a bridge that lets him speak to the dead. But the Resistance is the one place he can hide from the ascender who knows everything the fugue can do. Because if Marcus finds him, he'll either use Eli for his own nefarious purposes...or destroy him once and for all.

The Duality Bridge is the second book in the Singularity series and the sequel to The Legacy Human. This thrilling new young adult science fiction series explores the intersection of mind, body, and soul in a post-Singularity world.

Addictive

This continued seamlessly, it still has teen angst and a little crushing but it's not so much as in the first book. I couldn't stop listening I cleaned all day yesterday listening to it.
The narration really brings the story to life.
This audiobook was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this voluntary review.

What did you like best about this story?

Elijah Brighton is the face of the Human Resistance Movement - and he's not entirely human.

A great and awesome story full of lies, deception, angst, thrills, surprises, technology, challenges of the spirit, mind, body and soul, and love.

Which character – as performed by Nick Podehl – was your favorite?

Nick is such an amazing narrator - from the start you are hooked, being dragged into this world that never wants you to let go.

Amazing

Elijah is totally different from everyone and no one else realizes it. Makes for an interesting story. As wonderful as all the other stories, but a pleasure to listen to Able to go for a walk or do housework while being entertained at the same time.

Pure Ascendance

Eli, is now a face of the resistance whether he wants to be or not. His fugue state is also changing it is taking him deeper and for longer. It is showing him so much more not just how to paint anymore, and he doesn't know who he can trust to talk about this with, it seems everyone has their own agenda when it comes to him. This is another wonderful action packed, suspenseful book set in the future where the Ascenders (human/machine hybrids) are the powerful, the revered, the feared, and the pitied (at least by some like Eli). Is Eli the coming bridge or not, that is the huge question that both the resistance and the Ascenders want to know now, and will go to great lengths to find out.
I have been fan of Ms. Quinn's books for a long time and that hasn't changed with this book, it was awesome. Audiobook narrator Nick Podehl made this world even better by lending his voice (or maybe I should say voices) to this awesome book and ascending the listener to another level, if you are a audiobook listener like me than this is one you will not want to miss Mr. Podehl is wonderful performance, somehow I missed the first book and will have to go back and find that one so I can listen to this one again, it is that good.

MY TAKE
Another great story in this series. The characters are just as "real" in this book as the first. We know them better now and are more emotionally attached. The concept of spirituality is explored even deeper, along with fanaticism and its ugliness.

Eli continues to find his strengths and to grow. At his core, he's just a kid with a great heart. He's kind of like Harry Potter with his "saving people" thing and his willingness to sacrifice for them if he needs to.

This particular book has a lot of jerking around that happens. Eli's grabbed by one faction only to be taken by another and then ripped back or found by an even weirder group. A lot of jerking around. It felt very much like he was the rope in a tug of war.

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of the narrator, Nick Podehl.

A Wonderful Telling Of A Unique Story!

I love this fantastic world and all the great characters in it.
Mr. Podehl has a nice voice, he easily brings this story alive.
This is a long story to listen to, but his voice makes it fly by.
I would highly recommend it to everyone, you will not be disappointed.

YA SciFi!

Any additional comments?

I thought the narrator did a great job with voicing the characters but unfortunately the story was not as good. The first book legacy human was great but I found the second in the series slow and not a lot happened until the end.
However, others might like it, it was not for me.
