Publisher's Summary

Zeus has punished his son Apollo - god of the sun, music, archery, poetry, and more - by casting him down to earth in the form of a gawky, acne-covered 16-year-old mortal named Lester. The only way Apollo can reclaim his rightful place on Mount Olympus is by restoring several Oracles that have gone dark. What is affecting the Oracles, and how can Apollo/Lester do anything about them without his powers?

After experiencing a series of dangerous - and, frankly, humiliating - trials at Camp Half-Blood, Lester must now leave the relative safety of the demigod training ground and embark on a hair-raising journey across North America. Fortunately, what he lacks in godly graces he's gaining in new friendships - with heroes who will be very familiar to fans of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Heroes of Olympus series. Come along for what promises to be a harrowing, hilarious, and haiku-filled ride....

What the Critics Say

"Narrator Robbie Daymond is perfectly tuned in as events take a darker turn in this sequel to The Hidden Oracle.... There's plenty of adventure and humor here, and listeners will finish this installment already eager for the next one." (AudioFile)

    Story
    "Slow moving, but gets better😃"

The beginning of this book, dragged on and on,
It's does finally start to get interesting 1/2 way through. This installment introduces a lot of unknown characters, which after reading the first book, makes it hard to create an emotional connect to this new story. Yes Leo and Cal are in the story, but they have worst chemistry of any Percy Jackson universe couple. We just saw Will and Nico, in the last book, and they had amazing chemistry, so Leo and Cal's relationship is hard sell.

Apollo continues to grow on his soul searching quest of humanity and the story chugs along slowly, but eventually it gets exciting. You just have to stay engaged until you find the exciting part lol!

I'm still eagerly awaiting the next installment!

"Didn't make it to chapter 3."

I never write reviews but this book literally made me nauseous listening to it. Apallo cries and and complains non stop. Leo has gone from awesomely cool and funny to complete bore. And the narrator didn't help make things any better so I won't even start on him. Hate to say it but Riordan may have lost three readers with this one.

    Story
    "Better then the first book..."

I enjoyed the first book, though it was difficult at first to get into it. This book started where the last book ended which was nice. I liked the new characters and the return of old ones. I was amused by the depiction of the villains - evil but comical. The story flowed nicely and Apollo became more endearing as the story progressed and he became more sympathetic to the plight of mortals. It was hinted that Frank Jung might appear in the next book of the series - I hope that's true, he was one of my favourites in the Heroes of Olympus Series. Can't wait for the next book.

I give this book 4 out of 5 because I hold every Rick Riordan book up to the Mark of Athena standard. The Mark of Athena was a great book, this was a good book, therefore 4 stars out of 5.

    "Worst pronunciations ever!"

He pronounced Gaea as Gia! That is just the tip of the iceberg. The story is entertaining but the reader is completely awful.
