Publisher's Summary

Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride, better known as Max, knows what it's like to soar above the world. She and all the members of the "Flock" - Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel - are just like ordinary kids - only they have wings and can fly. It may seem like a dream come true to some, but their lives can morph into a living nightmare at any time - like when Angel, the youngest member of the "Flock", is kidnapped and taken back to the "School", where she and the others were genetically engineered by sinister scientists. Her friends brave a journey to blazing hot Death Valley, California, to save Angel, but soon enough, they find themselves in yet another nightmare - this one involving fighting off the half-human, half-wolf "Erasers" in New York City.

Whether in the treetops of Central Park or in the bowels of the Manhattan subway system, Max and her adopted family take the ride of their lives. Along the way Max discovers from her old friend and father-figure Jeb - now her betrayed and greatest enemy - that her purpose is to save the world - but can she?

I LOVE FANG!!!💗

I've red all the books already but I wanted to try the audiobooks.
My six problems with it are:
1) max sounds really weird like an older lady in a sense and not AT ALL like a teen.
2) Nudge sounds really obnoxious and sounds more like a 6 year old.
3) iggy sounds like a whiny kid
4) gazzy sounds like a pubescent teen
5) Fang (tho he's ma fave) sounds like...idk just weird. Sounds like the narrator was pretending to sound like a man but failing terribly.
And 6) The music. Two words.
JUST. NO.
Other than that I love the book.
I totally love FAX! Go team FAX!!
(Not trying to spoil)

Well I'm hooked!

I stumbled across this story of Maximum Ride in the movie of the same name. I wanted to read the whole story. First I saw it was written by an author I don't usually read and assumed his books were mostly crime dramas. Did not know James Patterson could create such an adorable group of characters. They leaped off the pages and into my heart. To my delight I can see there are a lot of books and stories about these young adults. And I'm hooked enough to feel the need to read them all...so onto the next "Ride"...

Fantastic book that'll leave you wanting more

This series has always been a huge favorite of mine. I'm listening to the audiobooks for the first time to experience the series again. I'm often weary of audiobooks because it's alway hit or miss with the narrator and this one did great. It was very easy to follow along and I wasn't having to rewind constantly.

Lacked umpf

I did not enjoy this book at all. I felt like it was incomplete, lacked any depth, and part of this journey was not an original storyline.

Fun story for our whole family.

Loved the story and realistic characters. One could not help falling in love with the main character, disliking the bad guys.

Great for nine year olds

What disappointed you about The Angel Experiment?

Well... I had believed the review that compared it to The Hunger Games.

Um... NOT. Far too juvenile.

What could James Patterson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I can't really complain - this book is for young kids.

Enjoyable youth fiction

The story is good youth fiction recorded in a way appealing to that age group. My biggest problem with the book is the lack of understanding of technology of the author. The words being used to describe the problems occurring were all wrong. However, other than that it is a fun youth fiction book. Very worth the time.
