Publisher's summary

I wondered what my life would have been like if we had never moved to the ho-dunk town of Spring Valley, Illinois. Sure the Internet service was splotchy, there was nothing but miles of wheat fields, and I probably wouldn't be faced with death at every corner. My only neighbor in this god-forsaken town was...well there really was only one to describe him, hot as hell. With his sinful dark looks, unusually silver eyes, and kissable lips, there was something about him that was more than meets the eye. Of course I was determined to find out. Chase Winters might be drool-worthy, but he was also insufferable, arrogant and...in short a d-bag. Our relationship was anything but love at first sight. Not even close.

There was something weird about the family living next door. What I hadn't expected to find was an underworld of trouble. Chase and his cousins Lexi and Travis are Divisa, half-demon, half-human. Getting them angry was hardly in my best interest, not if I wanted to live. As it turned out, that might be the least of my problems. I've been tagged by hell. Now every ugly, nasty being from hades was on my trail. I have suddenly became a magnet for demon disaster, and the only way I am getting out of this alive was by putting my life in the demon spawn's hands. One wrong decision and my butt was toast.

Yes it seems like a copy of the Lux series

So I want to start off by saying it seems a lot like the Lux series by JLA. But they are published in the same year with the Lux series being first. I'm going to give the author the benefit of the doubt and say she just maybe had a similar idea and used JLA's story as a huge model.
Personally I'm okay with it, the Lux series is good and it's fun to read/listen to a similar story. If you like tragic romances with angsty teens, demons, and lots of romance and drama you'll enjoy this.

Great listening

I love how audible brings the to book to life. It's almost like you're at the movies and can visualize all the characters.

Pretty good for teens

She does a good job narrating but her roomies/family are heard yelling in the background several times. At least Tara is professional enough not to yell at them to shut up :-)

Background noise is very distracting

The book is great, and Tara Millette's reading is amazing. But she must have recorded the book in an area with others talking. There is a man in the background talking, and it's s very distracting. It's not the entire book, but enough that I'll probably avoid books she narrates. I'm going to keep going with this series, and see if she figures out that she can't read with men in the background.

A bit more twilight then I thought..,

It was not too bad. There were plenty of similarities to the twilight book. If you liked the series you will like this one as well. It could be written better but for the most part it wasn’t too bad.

VERY similar to Obsidian

When I started this book, I kept screaming plagiarism. It is extremely similar to Jennifer L. Armentrout's Obsidian, the first book in her Lux Chronicles. Replace the demons with aliens and throw in a govt conspiracy, and its the same d*** book! Only not as good. Parts of this was boring and the dialog was meh. The reader was a bit monotone too. The only reason I finished it was to see how far the borderline plagiarism went. It pretty much goes all the way. I'm tempted to keep listening to the series to see if all the books are like that and flag them. Note to the author: Changing names, settings, and tweaking a couple scenes does not make it a new story. It's fine to emulate your favorite authors, but it's not ok to steal their s***! This is a total rip off of Armentrouts much better work. Don't beleive me? Read Obsidian

Good story, but needs to be edited.

around chapter 15 you can hear guys yelling and talking in the background. Other than that, it was great.
