Editorial reviews

In the first audiobook of Pierce's Circle of Magic quartet, the mage Niklaren Goldeye gathers four children and takes them to Winding Circle temple. They possess powers they do not understand, which leads to their being moved to Discipline cottage and which may end up making them a family. Full Cast Audio used almost 30 actors in this presentation, and the result is an exceptional match between the voices and the character descriptions, including children's characters being voiced by children. The resulting authenticity helps bring the world of Emelan to life. High production values are also seen in the musical accents and sound quality.

Publisher's summary

This is a story about craft, about work, about magic, and most of all about the pleasure and difficulty of friendship. It begins when four young misfits with a talent for magic (and trouble!) arrive at Winding Circle Temple. Despite their differences, Sandry (the noble), Tris (the merchant girl), Daji (the trader), and Briar (the "street rat") find themselves bound together in a Circle of Magic - a circle they will need when they face crushing danger in a white-knuckle climax that will have listeners glued to the edges of their seats.
Follow the adventures of all the young mages-in-training with Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic series.

Magical

I love listening and reading Tamora Pierce’s books! And to get to listen to them being read by her… even better! Yet another masterpiece to add to your multitude of others! I just wish I would have written a review after the first time I listened, instead of being after the 4th or 5th… or is it 6th? Lol. Thank you so much for creating another marvelous world for people to go to and explore!

The full cast makes this performance Gold

Would you listen to Sandry's Book again? Why?

This is simple easy read again and again. A young readers book, the way this world is introduced is dynamic and very flavorful.

What did you like best about this story?

The full cast made following this story easy.

Have you listened to any of Tamora Pierce and the Full Cast Family ???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I read the Alanna quartet as a child and really enjoyed ths new series by the author that deals with more and more dramatic issues as the children inthe series grow up. This was my first full cast story, and it sold me to find outher books performed by them.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes

Awesome

A satisfying and interesting story. I thought that the different magical crafts were interesting, and the characters were engaging and captivating. My only complaints are that this book was too short and a little underdeveloped. But it is still an aussom story. I can't wait to read the next book and the series that follow.

I was fortunate to meet Tamora Pierce

The short interview at the end of the story tells you everything about who this author is. She is a remarkable writer who writes wonderful stories. This is a series that my daughters fight over.

This book sets up the Circle of Magic series. It creates the backstories of the 4 main characters and introduces you to the adults in their lives who will be prominent influencers in their development as Mages.

You have 3 female leads: Sandry, Triss and Daja and one male lead Briar. Each character had a magical specialty and all are brought to the Winding Circle Temple to be trained as Mages.

I really enjoyed listening to this performance. Tamora Pierce has a very enjoyable voice and I really enjoyed listening to her narrate and I also liked each of the characters voices from the rest of the cast.
