good book for reading

it is a good book to get back into books for college or just in reading in general.

Disappointed

I absolutely love this story! And when I saw it was on here I couldn’t wait to listen to it!

But the narrator was not the greatest, her accents for each character were questionable and laughable. Sadly it took away from this amazing story.

Narration is slow

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Great book however the narration is incredibly slow. Tried to play it for my class to read along with. We gave up and read aloud.

Ruined my favorite book

I loved this book, but the narrative just ruined it for me. Julio is described as a Mexican boy that moved from Texas but the narrator made him sound like a cholo from Los Ángeles that is struggling with English.

What a perfect twist to a classic!

I have to say that Sharon M. Draper is my favorite author. I love how she shows the story from each characters point of view. I admire how she develops the scenes, plot, and characters in way that makes it easy visualize. Sisi Aisha Johnson did a very good narration, she really brought life to each character. Once I started listening to it I couldn't stop. I love this version more than the original because of how she puts a modern twist on it that the reader would not see coming but more importantly how it creates a bond with the reader.

YES YES YES

Brought me back to my 13 year old self, with the lively conversation, the character dynamics in the narrators voice! I would listen to ANYTHING she voices.
