Publisher's summary

War. Secrets. Betrayal.

Tehl Ramses is drowning; crops are being burned, villages pillaged, and citizens are disappearing, leading to a rising rebellion. As crown prince, and acting ruler, Tehl must find a way to crush the rebellion before civil war sweeps through his beloved kingdom.

Tehl will do whatever is necessary to save his people. Yet, his prisoner is not at all what he expects....

Fed up with the neglect and corruption of the crown, swordsmith Sage Blackwell steps forward to spy on the crown. She knows the risks of rebellion - imprisonment or death - and yet, she's still willing to take them to protect her family.

But when plans unravel, Sage finds herself facing the devils themselves, her sworn enemies, the princes of Aermia.

The Rebels choice.

This is a story about a rebel who gets caught by the Crown Prince and company. In the process of intterogation, she is nearly raped and killed. The Crown prince takes her in and helps her to get well. Later on Sage, the rebel, finds out that it was really members of the Rebellion who almost raped and killed her. Sage ends up questioning who is really the worse group, the representitive's of the Crown or the members of the Rebellion. The story is fast paced and the Characters are well defined. Disappointing m. DNF

The concept sounded promising but the follow through was slow and inconsistent. I liked a single character (Mira) after having 4 hours left and by then the princes made me want to puke.

what a start!

Have to admit the beginning was a bit slow. But it picked up and pulled me right into book two.

Great book!

This is a great read. I did not notice any errors while reading it and loved how Kay Frost kept the action rolling. I would recommend this book for others to read it is a great book and I cannot wait for more books. Em Ellridge did a great job at narrating this book too. I found myself drawn in and not wanting to stop listening. She captures tone of voice very well.

Meh

The narrator was great, but unfortunately for me, that's where the positives stopped.
This series came highly recommended as a high fantasy must read, but I was left disappointed and wanting far more. The plot had potential but it was delivered in a way that was a bit on the cheesy side with immature characters all around.
I won't be continuing this series.

Good Romance, nothing else

The story telling is bland, which while part of the issue was not what drove me away from this book. I can listen to a bland storytelling of a good book, but this book is not what I was looking for.

it feels like there is no other focus other than love, it always draw back to that. It has gaps and doesn't seem well thought through compared to other books. for instance: the kings focus being solely on wives for his son without even a thought of the rebellions or a hint at how unstable he supposedly is. The movement, emotions, and thoughts of the characters feel stiff and don't feel like they differ from each other.

if you want a romance this is a good book, but if your looking for something more look elsewhere.

I was so excited to read this, but alas.

Usually fantasy young adult books are enjoyable to read. Unfortunately, this one fell short of my hopeful expectations. The narrator had a pleasant voice though was stilted at times. The book was clearly written for a younger audience than I am. I've gotten to chapter six and have had enough. The dialogue is childish, there is no excitement, and I keep rolling my eyes while waiting for the story to really take off and get started. I would not recommend this for anybody under the age of 18. Though, due to some more mature themes alluded to, I also wouldn't recommend this for anybody younger than 13.
