When you're being hunted, who can you trust?

For the first time since she escaped from her school many months ago, Eve can sleep soundly. She's living in Califia, a haven for women, protected from the terrifying fate that awaits orphaned girls in The New America.

But her safety came at a price: She was forced to abandon Caleb, the boy she loves, wounded and alone at the city gates. When Eve gets word that Caleb is in trouble, she sets out into the wild again to rescue him, only to be captured and brought to the City of Sand, the capital of The New America.

Trapped inside the City walls, Eve uncovers a shocking secret about her past - and is forced to confront the harsh reality of her future. When she discovers Caleb is alive, Eve attempts to flee her prison so they can be together - but the consequences could be deadly. She must make a desperate choice to save the ones she loves... or risk losing Caleb forever.

In this breathless sequel to Eve, Anna Carey returns to her tale of romance, adventure, and sacrifice in a world that is both wonderfully strange and chillingly familiar.

Also listen to the first book, Eve.

Great Book, Dumb Main Character...

What made the experience of listening to Once the most enjoyable?

I loved when they were making fun of a old teachers face that looks like a bull dog!

What other book might you compare Once to and why?

Delirium, Match, The Selection, & Divergent.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

Well I liked when she just read normal and not acted out voices. Her natural voice is beautiful.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Eve saw her friend walking into the all woman city Califia. I could imagine the joy of seeing a long lost friend.

Any additional comments?

This main character Eve is soo dumb... I don't understand why authors make characters dumb, maybe so the poor decisions they make lead into a new troublesome issue. At one point I just wanted to stop listening because of her dumb choice that puts her friend into harms way. Again I believe this character is like the girl form the movie Twilight... If you seen the movie, you understand the dumb choices the girl makes and you just wanna slap the stupid out of them. This book was written very well though. Some comedy and a ton of adventure. This book keeps you very interested and wanting more.I think anyone would like this book if you like Divergent. I would just think woman authors would want to make their main female characters to appear somewhat intelligent. I know men and woman think differently. But I believe to gain respect from men, maybe female authors should not portray woman as idiots. But again this is a wonderful book with that one only flaw.I can't wait for the 3rd book!

This chick is just bad news

You can’t even feel bad for her. Everyone that Mets her gets killed and she just keeps on living, being dumb.

under rated!!!

If you could sum up Once in three words, what would they be?

exciting, crazy realistic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Once?

One of the most memberrable moments was when the dog was shot as she was trying to protect Eve and Arden.

Which character – as performed by Tavia Gilbert – was your favorite?

She performed Ardin perfectly!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

"Once", a story of love, loss, and sacrifice!

Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the third book to be released.

Absorbing second book.

This book starts off a few months after the first book ended. The story delves further into the politics of the New America and is quite interesting. I didn't forsee some of the twists the story took and was quite enthralled. The ending however was quite abrupt so I'm going to assume there is going to be another book. I'm looking forward to the next one. Tavia Gilbert, the narrator, is one of my favorites and she did an excellant job.

Entertaining

Written as the second book in the Eve trilogy, the book was entertaining and a good read. However, in this book, the main character, Eve, acts like a princess yet still is in a state of rebellion. After all she had been through; Eve should have been tougher and more solid. Although I thought this book was a little weaker than the first book, but it is still entertaining enough that I will read the third book.

disappointing... lost interest.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No. The book didn't grip me but i suffered through it anyway.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Not much to say about the ending except you know what's going to happen in the next book

What didn’t you like about Tavia Gilbert’s performance?

Terrible. I couldn't stand the over dramatic voice. It wasn't believable and might be the reason i couldn't get into the book

Did Once inspire you to do anything?

No

Just as good as the first

Anna Carey continues a wonderful job in this second book/audiobook of the series. New surprises unveil as Eve continues her search for her love, Caleb. With Eve's new revelations and an empending war between the king and the rebels, will her and Caleb's love survive? Tavia Gilbert continues to deliver an excellent performance in her narration of "Once". I was crying, anxious and swooning throughout the book. Can't wait for the next and final installment!

Can't believe it's less than 5 stars

What did you like best about Once? What did you like least?

I liked how did Eve grew up and matured a lot since the first book , but I didn't like how the events are moving super slowly in comparison with the first book which was one of my favorites

Would you be willing to try another book from Anna Carey? Why or why not?

yeah sure .. this book wasn't so bad and I already read Eve and I LOVED it .. looking forward to the next book

What about Tavia Gilbert’s performance did you like?

her speed of narration was so good , I didn't even have to fast forward it like most of the books

Was Once worth the listening time?

yeah .. because I wanted to read it so badly

Any additional comments?

I actually wanted to give this one a full five stars like the first book , but something in it just ticked me off .. but it was good though

It was ok. Ends with a set-up for the next book so I will probably get that when released.
