Pretty good book, maybe not really YA

What made the experience of listening to Night of the Purple Moon the most enjoyable?

The narrator did a great job with the voices and her presentation of the main character.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The struggle to survive and not losing hope made the book interesting. Least interesting, probably the simple way in which the story is told.

Which scene was your favorite?

The struggle to survive and not losing hope made the book interesting. Least interesting, probably the simple way in which the story is told.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really.

Any additional comments?

Overall, Night of the Purple Moon is an interesting apocalyptic story, where most of the adults die off instantly, leaving the young alone to survive. I wouldn’t really classify this as YA – since the oldest characters are about 13 and specifically pre-pubescent. For a YA it is a bit on the simple side – the plot and the story line are very straight forward and the characters are not developed deeply. The kids have to grow up fast to try to make it in the world post the arrival of the “space germs”. They have to watch their friends and fellow survivors die off as puberty starts to hit, and yet I can’t say I felt emotionally connected to the characters or really felt their loss (except for one and that was more the loss of what that character brought to the table for the other survivors).

A Unique Story.

Would you listen to Night of the Purple Moon again? Why?

Definitely. I loved the idea of the purple moon and how it came about and the story is sufficiently fast paced to read again. I also loved the narrators voice.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Night of the Purple Moon?

The way the children banded together.

Have you listened to any of Deanna Moffitt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any by her before but I definitely will again.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I think I listened to 4 hours straight one day because it was so good.

Any additional comments?

A great story and I really enjoyed listening to it. I hope the rest get turned into audio books because I definitely want to listen to them.

3.5

I enjoyed the book in spite of the unbelievability of the story. The kids were way too knowledgeable and mature for their age. I got past that as the story progressed.

It was very interesting and told in a manner that middle grade children can also listen.

Loved how she used different voices.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Any additional comments?

Wanted to listen to the next book but there doesn't seem to be an audio for it.

Great Suspense Filled Story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely recommend this audiobook...as a matter of fact I already have. The narrator does an excellent job of capturing the characters and the emotion of the story. The author does an amazing job of telling the story of a world in which children must take on the roles of the adults in order to survive.

What about Deanna Moffitt’s performance did you like?

The narrator, Deanna Moffitt, really captures the voices and emotions of the characters. She brings the story to life and made it hard to stop listening.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This was a book that I listened to in two sittings but only because of life responsibilities. I would have continued to listen through the night if not for that pesky thing called work.

Any additional comments?

I was surprised that I enjoyed this story as much as I did. It is very well written and you find yourself having to listen/read just a little more in hopes of finding out what will happen next.

The story is heartbreaking but at the same time full of hope. As soon as I finished listening to book one I attempted to purchase book 2 and 3 on audio. Unfortunately, they aren't available on audio yet but I grabbed them for my Kindle. I need to know how things end for Scott Cramer's characters.

Where did all the adults go?

Wonderful story of survival in the most desperate of scenarios. Young children learn how important it is to work as a team.

Loved this book! Where are the other 2 books?

Would you consider the audio edition of Night of the Purple Moon to be better than the print version?

Haven't seen the printed version.

Any additional comments?

Where are the other two books? I loved this book and keep waiting to see the Audiobook for at least the second book! What gives? If it's popular enough to warrant a 3rd book, it certainly deserves an audiobook of the 2nd book. I prefer listening to the audiobook only because I can listen while commuting and don't like switching from one book to another. It's apparent that I will have to suck it up and just 'read' the second and third installments of this trilogy since Audible hasn't seen fit to produce the 2nd and 3rd book.
