Publisher's Summary

The Angel Experiment was just a test drive. Now, brace yourself for the maximum ride! James Patterson shifts high action into overdrive in this eagerly awaited follow-up to his #1 New York Times best seller.

Brave bird-kid Max and her flock fly south on a perilous quest to find their parents, after having rescued Angel and recovered secret documents about their origins. But just when they think they've finally escaped the hungry claws of evil Erasers, they're discovered by an FBI agent and forced to face perhaps an even worse nightmare: going to school. There's no such thing as an ordinary day when Max's "homework" includes decoding documents, deciphering when (and how) she's supposed to save the world, and learning to face what may be her greatest enemy: herself. A clone. Max II.

Very bummed that this is the abridged version :(

We knew that this was the abridged version however it cuts out nearly HALF of the story. Very disappointed that we paid full price for this as well as the fact that there is no unabridged version available.

The flock flies again

This is the sequel to "Maximum Ride: The Angle Experiment". The original introduced the flock and the main character Maximum Ride. This book continues their adventures.

They get to finally experience some level of normalcy as the FBI takes them into protective custody. However, as you would expect, the "white coats" arrive to spoil everything.

The plot takes some interesting twists as parents are found, erasers come and go, and an evil twin rears her head. A great sequel even if it is abridged.

Music

The background music was so annoying. Couldn't stand more than 10 minutes of this book. Too bad, the story seems great. I'll just read a paper version.

Great and bad

I love this book. It's as amazing as your nirvana. But like the house of Hades and the Blood of Olympus, the new narrator is terrible. Bring the old one back!

A great installment in a fabulous series

This book was excellently written and excellently performed. The author really captured the reader's attention while the narrator enticed you with her amazing voice. I would highly recommend this title for younger readers who are in to fantasy novels.

Wind in my Wings

Once again James Patterson brings us into the world of Max and friends. Even though this is an Audible Kids selection I find it to be a most refreshing and wondrous book. I can almost feel the wind in my wings as the I become part of the group and help them defeat the evil. I think, no matter your age, every woman/girl wants to be Max. I encourage James Patterson to bring us more takes of Max and family.

Over-produced and lacking

I read/listen to a ton of YA, so it's not a genre issue when I say that this audio book misses the mark. The main problem is that, like seemingly everything in the James Patterson universe, it is grossly over-produced. The 'background music' is distracting and too loud and Max's 'voice' sounds like it's coming from a tin can and is hard to understand. It's not the narrator's fault at all, she did her best with the writing, but the writing just isn't very good. I would put it at a middle grades level, although I know it's not sophisticated enough for my 6th grader. My 3rd grader would be the best fit for the material and production. The plot has huge holes and the 'evil corporation out to ruin the world' trope is lazy. All in all, if you love YA and you are over the age of 9 you can skip this one. The first audio book (unabridged version) was fine, but this one was tough to endure.

Narrator Change

The narrator is an adjustment from the previous book. I also don't think I'm a fan of the background music and sound effects. It's a big change from previous books, but not necessarily bad. Just a matter of what you prefer.
