Publisher's summary

Striking a perfect balance between heartfelt emotions and spot-on humor, this debut features a pop-culture enthusiast protagonist with an unforgettable voice sure to resonate with listeners.

Alice had her whole summer planned. Nonstop all-you-can-eat buffets while marathoning her favorite TV shows (best friends totally included) with the smallest dash of adulting - working at the library to pay her share of the rent. The only thing missing from her perfect plan? Her girlfriend (who ended things when Alice confessed she's asexual).

Alice is done with dating - no thank you, do not pass go, stick a fork in her, done. But then Alice meets Takumi and she can't stop thinking about him or the rom com-grade romance feels she did not ask for (uncertainty, butterflies, and swoons, oh my!).

When her blissful summer takes an unexpected turn and Takumi becomes her knight with a shiny library-employee badge (close enough), Alice has to decide if she's willing to risk their friendship for a love that might not be reciprocated - or understood.

Not What I Expected However...

Been looking for a story book about asexuality and I have to admit, Takumi's character at the end was not what I expected it to be to as far as accepting an asexual relationship, but it was definitely more realistic and I appreciate that. I absolutely recommend this book not only for people who want to understand asexuality, but for asexuals who want to understand others not like them.

Good book

The book was decent but the storyline was just enough to qualify as acceptable. A little more substance would have been nice. Felt like I was waiting for it the whole time. However, it wasn’t a horrible read or waste of time. I think maybe it’s just an niche style of book.

A-plus Representation and so fun!

As a Black asexual woman who loves love, this was such a wonderful story to listen to! I highly recommend. I feel seen, I enjoyed the journey, and I loved how true to life it all felt. This is the exact representation I didn’t even know I needed and it was written so beautifully. My heart was so happy listening to it!

Cute

I thought this was relatable as someone whose on the acespec. I did think some of the metaphors were incredibly cheesy! A lot of her ace fears were very grounded and real. I really like the first chapter between her girlfriends reaction - very dramatic- is how quite a few people respond to being ace.

I give it a 3.9

The stakes are hard to identify until Alice reminds you,
but loveable and relatable nonetheless.

It wasn't my norm, but I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved Alice, but I didn't like how she let her family control her. I also didn't like how Feeni tried to make her feel bad for doing something she always does to her (Alice).

I really enjoyed her and Takumi together. she opened up and blossomed so much with him. You love to see it!

So sweet

I am not a romance novel reader, but I love this sweet coming of age ( sexual maturity) story.
Most of us never get there, with the artful process that Alice takes us on.

So sweet, loved it.

ACE Love

Alice is asexual but not aromantic, and she just wants to find love. When her girlfriend breaks up with her over this she is heartbroken again. She moves in with her engaged best friends. At her library job she meets Takumi, who knocks her cuteness skill off the charts. She doesn’t know how to manage her desire to have a romantic relationship with him and her asexualality. This book was amazing. Well written and has a great plot. The characters were flawed but real. I loved the journey Alice goes on to find herself.
