Publisher's summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of The Program comes a brand-new haunting, romantic, and suspenseful story about one girl's search for healing in a grand and mysterious hotel full of secrets.

Stay tonight. Stay forever.

When Audrey Casella arrives for an unplanned stay at the grand Hotel Ruby, she's grateful for the detour. Just months after their mother's death, Audrey and her brother, Daniel, are on their way to live with their grandmother, dumped on the doorstep of a DNA-matched stranger because their father is drowning in his grief.

Audrey and her family plan to stay only the night, but life in the Ruby can be intoxicating, and they extend their stay as it provides endless distractions - including handsome guest Elias Lange, who sends Audrey's pulse racing.

However, the hotel proves to be as strange as it is beautiful. Nightly fancy affairs in the ballroom are invitation only, and Audrey seems to be the one guest who doesn't have an invite. Instead, she joins the hotel staff on the rooftop, catching whispers about the hotel's dark past.

The more Audrey learns about the new people she's met, the more her curiosity grows. She's torn in different directions - the pull of her past with its overwhelming loss, the promise of a future that holds little joy, and an in-between in a place that is so much more than it seems....

Welcome to the Ruby.

Gloriously Spooky

I eagerly awaited the release of Hotel Ruby with a pre-order and was not disappointed. Although it is a YA book, it certainly appeals to an adult audience as well. The star of the story is the Hotel Ruby herself and she outshines everyone with her grand style. The characters are well drawn and of course there are layers of spooky secrets that needed to be uncovered before the end of the book. The ending was satisfying but no spoilers here!

A special mention for Julia Whelan who once again did a wonderful narration.

OMG ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!

I adore Suzanne Young & ALL HER BOOKS!! This one "HOTEL RUBY" Also now titled "HOTEL FOR THE LOST" IS very different then her series THE PROGRAM, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT'S NOT AMAZING cause TRUST ME WHEN I SAY....IT IS!! IT TRULY IS EPIC!! THE STORYLINE, THE CHARACTERS, ALL OF IT!! IT'S DEFINITELY NOT YOUR TYPICAL STORY BUT THAT DON'T MEAN IT'S NOT GOOD....I'M RECOMMENDING IT TO ANY & EVERYONE THAT WILL LISTEN!! I'M ABOUT TO SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS!!! GREAT JOB SUZANNE & JULIA WHELAN DID AN AWESOME JOB NARRATING IT!

Meh, a little let down

I was really excited for this book. It's not what I expected and the ending was a bit of a let-down. The female lead was a bit hard to like towards the end of the book.

A curious and unique mystery. Brilliant narration!

Narrator Julia Whelan is the main reason I purchased this one. Set within the walls of the peculiar Hotel Ruby, author Suzanne Young interweaves a puzzling tale as she introduces us to the bewildering, secretive and bizarre staff and guests. What is real? What is the Hotel Ruby? How does this all tie together? Listen intently. You’ll be glad you did. I avidly listened to this fascinating adventure with clarity and focus. An ending I never saw coming! Highly recommended. Epic, I say. EPIC!!!

Had me hooked from the very beginning

Some books take me awhile to get into but this one had me hooked from the beginning! Julia whelan is one of my favorite narrators and does such a wonderful job with the characters and telling the story! You think you know how its going to end but it keeps you guessing and was one of my favorite audio books!

...predictable

I was hoping this book would stretch the imagination a bit more than it did. Unfortunately, it was very predictable. I was hoping for so much more with this type of premise. Bummed.

Spooky Haunted Hotel Story

I like a spooky haunted hotel, especially old run down dives found in out of the way places.
This hotel isn't exactly a dive but it's glory days are behind it.

Lots of spooky characters and great atmosphere. I found it on sale, don't know if I would have spent a credit on it. But for less than $5, it was worth a listen.

Great Book

I loved this book. I know a lot of people think the ending is unrealistic but I think it fits Audrey’s character well. I would have made the same choice she did for the same reasons.

Basic, Yet Not

First of all, I am a big fan of Julia Whelan, but everything else I've ever heard her in was nonfiction, with no discernable main antagonist.

This audiobooks defies that on both counts. It was refreshing to me to hear a Julia Whelan-narrated protagonist dealing with sudden fantastic violence and supernatural events.

The story itself was fairly standard (I knew something supernatural was up early on), but only little pieces are revealed to sharp-eared listeners here and there, forcing you to put said pieces together yourselves. The summary might make it seem totally depressing, but it's really not quite so bad as all that.

And what an ending! Now that's definitely not standard!

On the downside, though, the voice she does for the father character is more like the one she usually does for old men (though that may be to show just how weary he is after all his family's been through before the start of the story proper).

That, plus it's a tad longer than most of the other stuff I've heard her in, and the chapters are a tad long, too.
