Publisher's Summary

Captain James Hook was once a good man trying to make a somewhat honest living. He is a pirate, after all. However, after getting word that a boy named Peter Pan played a part in the death of a dear loved one, Hook makes it his sole purpose to hunt down and destroy the fiend.

On his journey for vengeance, the captain encounters many new comrades, including a young girl named Red and a fairy called Tinker Bell, and both push him to reconsider his desire for justice.

The accidental rescue of a mermaid leads him on a whirlwind adventure in Neverland. The journey is not a simple one, considering Pan, the Lost Boys, mermaids, and magic all come into play. After several misadventures, Hook must choose between the possibility of a new life with love and his much-desired retaliation against Pan.

Once everything is said and done, will the captain be able to overcome his need for revenge? Will he let compassion steer him toward love? Or will Captain Hook live up to his villainous reputation?

    "Hook's little mermaid"
What made the experience of listening to Hook's Little Mermaid the most enjoyable?

I enjoyed this audiobook Hooks Little MermaidI really liked the spin Suzanna Lynn created, keeping true to the age old story while putting her own imagination in the world of Neverland! The writing was good giving me a good pirate feel to the first person narrative. (I was totally picturing the guy who played captain hook in Once Upon a Time.

    "Cute twist on fairy tales"

I enjoyed listening to this fairy tale. It was a cute twist of stories that I partially knew. I had never thought of Captain Hook from Peter Pan as a good guy or knowing the little mermaid. This book was not in my normal listening genre, but I found it very enjoyable. Clean listen and appropriate for most ages. The narrator did a very good performance. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher.

    "Awesome Twist"

Really enjoyed this story, always loved Peter Pan so reading this side story was fantastic. By the end I felt empathy for Captain Hook, he started off a good man. James Darcy has a perfect voice for this story, at times the pause appeared a little longer than normal which I assume is down to editing.
This book was given to me by the narrator, author and I`m voluntarily offering my review

    "Interesting Look at Hook"
    Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this new look at Captain Hook. He is a good guy, I mean he is a pirate but he isn't a BAD pirate. I enjoyed the book from start to finish. The narrator took some getting used to but did a pretty good job. It isn't a long book and I listened to it in one day. Not a book you are going to want to put down to do something and come back to but one you will want to read start to finish as quickly as possible. The author does a great job with her characters and keeping the story entertaining start to finish. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next! Really good book 4/5.

    "Amazing fantasy mashup!!"
What did you like best about this story?

Peter Pan is one of my favorite books. I loved this sort of "prequel " and the other stories that crossed paths with this one. The only thing that bothered me was changing the story of how a fairy is born.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely! The narrator is not my favorite, but he did a good job and definitely grew on me. He was good at putting emotion into their voices. The story was intriguing and fast paced. If the next book were out, I'd be listening to it right now!!

    Any additional comments?

    I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

"A New Twist on a Classic Story - Great Teen Novel"

This was a refreshingly new twist on a classic story! We all love the story of Peter Pan and this novel adds a new side to the story! Taking the story from Hooks point of view, you learn more about who he is as a character and what drives him.

Overall, I liked the story. It is perfect for it's target audience: Teens. Some material in it may be a little too mature for older children, although I would still consider this to be a clean novel. My main criticism would be the reader. In my opinion he was just OK. I didn't hate him, but I didn't really love him either.

    "Get Swept Away"

From the moment the story began, I was swept away into this magical fairy tale full of mermaids, pirates, fairies and of course, Captain Hook and Peter Pan. The author has weaved a creative web that ensnares you and captivates you while the narrator pulls off a fantastic reading. I not only fell in love with this version of things but also by the narrator who did one heck of a job... and did I mention how well he pulls off all the voices?!

Come fall in love with this tale and get swept away by all of the action and adventure.

    I give this audiobook 5/5

"Excellent Retelling of an Old Tale"

We have all read and heard the stories of Peter Pan. We have even seen some glimpses of Captain Hook's origin... However, I guarantee you, you have NEVER heard of a tale as intriguing as Hooks' Little Mermaid! I was literally drawn in from the very beginning!
James Darcy has a way with telling this story that you can just see at all playing out in front of you! Listening to him read the female character dialog, he did such a good job! I didn't feel as though it was a guy trying to be a girl, nor did he sound like a girl... He was just so good as presenting it, everything just was! It flowed seamlessly!
Suzanna Lynn has retold a story that has been done countless times, and she has still managed to make this story new! I knew Captain Hook lost his hand to a crocodile, I knew he had a feud with Peter Pan. Yet this book, made me sit on the edge of my seat. This book, made me want to finish in one setting. This book, made me fall for Captain Hook.
Well played Ms. Lynn. Well played indeed!

    Story
"A fabulous re-telling of a classic fairy tale."

This tale is centered on Captain James Shaw, who we come to know as Captain Hook later on in story and his vengeful quest to take down his nemesis Peter Pan. Along the way we meet fairies, mermaids, witches and much more in this fabulous re-telling of a classic fairy tale.

Suzanna Lynn is a real class story teller! I absolutely loved the twist she put on this story and the fact it was told from "Hook's" point of view was very, very clever. I never thought I would find myself liking Captain Hook's character but in Hook's Little Mermaid, he went from Villain to hero.

I will never be able to look at Peter Pan the same ever again!!

James Darcy, as the narrator was perfect. I could have listened to this story over and over again. His narration was seamless as he navigated his way through the different characters featured in the book. His delivery of each the different characters was faultless making it easy to distinguish between each of them.

This is one of the best audio books I have listened to yet.
