Critic Reviews

"Page-turning suspense with a clever heroine who meets up with bad luck, bad men, a bad dog, bad weather, bad health, and has to face them all without seeing them. A nail-biter." (Gail Giles, best-selling author of What Happened to Cass McBride?)
"A unique and clever premise. Cheyenne has to be one of the most resourceful heroines in recent memory." (Todd Strasser, best-selling author of Wish You Were Dead)
"[A] can’t-put-it-down crime thriller...constantly interesting and suspenseful." ( Kirkus Reviews)

interesting

I actually read this book myself and then had audible read me to sleep but this book is unlike the books I usually read it keeps your attention and every detail is important I usually don't like "horror, mystery, tragedy" books but this was really entertaining and left me with chills

Boring

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If something would have happened in the first 11 chapters. Couldn’t suffer through any more after that.

What was most disappointing about April Henry’s story?

It was uneventful. Girl got stolen...that was it.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kate Rudd’s performances?

Maybe.

Decent abduction story for YAs

Would you consider the audio edition of Girl, Stolen to be better than the print version?

No. I didn't like the voice performer's narration of the story, so I would recommend reading the book instead. She does a credible job voicing Cheyenne, but there are multiple male characters and she was terrible at their characters. I wish the author had gone with dual narration instead.

Would have been 5 Stars without the foul language

Intense and suspenseful. Have enjoyed this author's books. However, sure do wish she would leave out the foul language. She spares us many other gory details while keeping the story intense and suspenseful, but does not spare us the foul language. There are many ways to allude to foul language without exposing us to it, such as "he spat out a curse" or he muttered foul words under his breath". The funny thing is I have never heard a reader say "I just couldn't enjoy the book because it didn't have enough foul language in it." Or "the book just didn't have enough foul words in it to make it seem realistic." However, there are many readers like myself who appreciate and prefer to read books written without foul language. I will defer to authors who choose to leave out the foul language.

Captivating

I 💞 the narrator. Excellent job capturing the heroine's emotion. And the author did an amazing job in explaining the every day struggles of the blind.

This is a really good book and a great storyline. The one thing I didn’t like was how the performer said the Voices but I LOVED everything else
