Publisher's summary

From YouTube sensation Zoella comes a debut coming-of-age novel that perfectly captures what it means to grow up and fall in love in today's digital world. Girl Online is the first book to be published by Keywords Press, an imprint under Simon & Schuster dedicated to today's digital stars.

I have this dream that, secretly, all teenage girls feel exactly like me. And maybe one day, when we realize that we all feel the same, we can all stop pretending we're something we're not... But until that day, I'm going to keep it real on this blog and keep it unreal in real life.

Penny has a secret.

Under the alias GirlOnline, Penny blogs her hidden feelings about friendship, boys, high school drama, her crazy family, and the panic attacks that have begun to take over her life. When things go from bad to worse, her family whisks her away to New York, where she meets Noah, a gorgeous, guitar-strumming American. Suddenly Penny is falling in love - and capturing every moment of it on her blog.

But Noah has a secret, too, one that threatens to ruin Penny's cover - and her closest friendship - forever.

Two Narrators Necessary

Personally, I find it frustrating when a book with a large number of both gender characters doesn't also have two narrators. In this case, I was supremely disappointed that the book did not have a British AND an American narrator. Hannah Tointon's portrayal of Noah was so off that it really distracted from the story itself. While it's not the greatest story, the part in the end where Penny is finally found out and slayed all over the internet is a really poignant and necessary message for young people today. In the midst of what I found to be a very fluffy story, that was the part that most prominently stuck out to me. That being said, if given the chance to listen to it again, I probably wouldn't.

Loved the book!

This book made my rides to and from work very entertaining. The narrator was great. I'm excited for a sequel and possible movie?

Very good!

Now I'm not being bias because I love Zoella, but I really did enjoy this book! I love how Zoe mentioned panic attacks, friend troubles and boy troubles, I found it really comforting to read as I could relate to some things. I think Hannah did a great job reading it, but the American accents really made me cringe, someone else should've read those parts.

Cute story

Good, light read. Relatable story for anyone who has ever felt like they just needed to be heard. The narrator was fun to listen to, despite missing the mark just a touch on the American accents.

I love everything about this book. Twist & turns, ugh Zoe! You scared me there for a minute. I was gonna kill Noah even though he isn't real! Lol

amazing

I really enjoyed this story. For being Zoe Suggs first book ever I really do hope she writes more.
most memorable part was Elliott being very sassy towards Megan and Olly.
