Publisher's Summary

Jax

Buried,

By my family's fame.

Dying to escape the limelight,

And finally, I do.

Being raised as a Jayne, I'm under constant scrutiny. The rock band my brothers formed makes it impossible to stay under the radar. Paparazzi, tabloids, rabid fans - you name it and I've got it. It all makes me sick. But getting shipped off to crazy Aunt Betty's house in my senior year of high school isn't any better. After all, there isn't a stray kid or pet in the world that my aunt wouldn't take in.

Then I meet her. She's cautious, suspicious, and not interested in me at all. But that's fine by me. Sivan Holt may be beautiful and intelligent, but she's nothing I'm looking for.

Sivan

Drowning,

In my past.

Struggling to feel settled.

And finally, I do.

Growing up in the foster care system, I longed for a sense of belonging. All I wanted was a place to call home.

At the age of 17, I'm finally starting to feel it here. Home.

When he comes along, it unsettles me. I don't want him to ruin everything we've built - everything that matters. Jax Jayne is arrogant, privileged, and I want nothing to do with him. But those green eyes of his keep drawing me in. If I let down my walls, will it be my final undoing?

riveting piece!!!

This is my first fictional audiobook and I’m almost speechless! It was an exceptional book that made me contemplate on love and life. MK came up with characters that have their own interesting personalities that will endear every reader. I’ll surely be checking out her other best-selling books.

Fantastic book!

Where does Famous by Default rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I rank this quite high among books I have listened to for the story and the narrators ability to make the characters sound very different.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Jax. I loved his big heart and his ability to see past what someone looks like. Since his brothers were so famous and he was stuck in the limelight, it would have been easy to fall into a lifestyle where his morals and values were poor. Instead, he wanted a totally different life for himself.

What does Tiffany Marz bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The ability to pronounce the names that I may not have known. Also the emotion associated with a very emotional story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to but I am unable to do that. Instead I got to look forward to listening daily.

Any additional comments?

I don't know if this is a series but I would love to hear more about the Jane brothers.

Excellent Listen

This was a great book with great narration. I loved listening to this book and Tiffany Marz was fantastic to listen to. I also liked her doing the voice of Jax, it really made his character that much more likable. Tiffany Marz does a great job evoking the characters emotions in feelings when she's narrating. I swear she had me in tears at the end when Sivan broke down. It may have been a tad bit much for me, although I think some of that had to do with how fast I had her speaking. But it had me balling in my car nonetheless. MK Harkins wrote a fantastic story. Jax and Sivan are great characters. Their relationship was very sweet with lots of funny banter and cute romantic moments. Definitely worth listening to.

Emotional YA listen

Loved this! This story deals with many tough subjects and really pulls on the heart strings, be prepared to laugh, cry, and learn to love with Sivan and Jax. The narrator did a phenomenal job, you can tell she really poured her emotions into this reading. I highly recommend this one, just make sure to keep some tissues handy. Heartbreaking and Inspiring

Sivan's been sent from foster home to foster home since she was 11, and has hardened her heart against love. Despite this, she's a kind person who cares more about others than herself. Jax's life has been ruined by his families' new fame, and it's made him bitter. When the two are thrown together at a farm in remote Iowa, Jax is surprised to find a girl who doesn't throw herself at his feet. Their initial tension turns to friendship, but Sivan's past is keeping her from opening up to her new family.

This was a clean YA read with some cursing and adult themes. It was a touching read, both heartbreaking and inspiring. The book was well written and the characters fleshed out so well I felt like I knew them. Both Jax and Sivan were characters to fall in love with, and of course Aunt Betty was just the best. I loved the banter between them all. One thing I really liked was that some of the points of view would overlap a little in the best parts so we could experience it from both Jax and Sivan. I really liked the author's style and I'll be checking out more of her work.

The narrator read dramatically, if the dialogue tag was 'she said breathlessly', the narrator would pant the words, or if 'he chuckled', she would laugh during the sentence. I switched between the audio and the kindle version a few times, and I think the narration style really brought something to the audio, although it was a great read as well. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review. I already know I'm going to be listening to this one again!

Pain and love

I wasn't quite expecting the emotion that came through in this book. It's a story of love, loss and the growth that comes from it. I liked the narration, except at times I couldn't tell the boy from the girl. I did however, find the emotion she put into one of the crying scenes very realistic and had to pause the book for a couple minutes to collect myself. Great story!

This was a beautiful and fun story.
The narrator was great! Right up until the crying. Turning what, on paper, would have been a heart wrenching turn of events into a comical melodramatic sobfest. I'm talking a full minute of snot-filled "waaaaaahhh".
I will give this a full five star rating because the story is that good. Like a hug.
And don't get me wrong, Tiffany Marz is a wonderful narrator, and the scene was probably directed that way. Many folks don't realize that.
Just give this a listen for entertainment. A great story. I might pick up a hard copy to read in the future.

just wow! excellent!

I wanted to read this book, the story line seemed good and caught my interest. I wanted something light. I listen a a lot of audio books, mostly in the area of apocalypse and horror. Sometimes I need a break and look for something light in young adult.

This book blew me away. It was so good! so well written, and such a great story! Its an imaginative story with superb detail. The characters were well thought out, and well loved.
I would recommend this book to anyone really. I am in my 40s and loved it!

Tiffany Marz asa narrator is above excellent and makes this book an even better listen. She was amazing! You can tell she puts so much in to her performance. and quickly made it to my top five of all time favs. I would listen to any book by her again.
